I hate to say it, but it needs to be said: We've enabled them for years by being politically correct in order to be nice, not to mention, meeting them in the middle. Well, there isn't any middle anymore. The Overton Window has moved so far to the left, that we are no longer allowed to disagree, and if we do, we are violent and hateful.

There's nothing wrong with trying to be nice to others.

What's wrong is when that is taken advantage of by nutbags trying to get power over others by being utterly irrational and abusive. If ever there's been a time of absolute CRAZY ASS BEHAVIOR it's now.

ShereaS2's avatar

When you know their intent is to take advantage of it you have an obligation not to go along with their game. It was obvious from the get go for.many of us and of course we were called "mean" among other more damning pejoratives.

Remember when illegal aliens became illegal immigrants, and then transitioned to undocumented workers? That's when I finally realized what they were doing and wised up. I went back to illegal aliens and resisted any further "nudging". Unfortunately, language is just one of their weapons and it took the last three years for me to see just how big their arsenal is...

True to your first sentence. I don't think that was the case years ago when there seemed to be a legitimate concern for being egalitarian, or polite, or whatever. NOW, it's a whole different ballgame, and I suspect, like BLM, like gay marriage, like Antifa, all these groups have been captured, subverted, taken over by agents provocateurs-- And yes, I agree that NOW, it's quite obvious that there is nefarious intent, and YES, it was obvious to many of us, because of the sheer twistedness of it! GENDER and SEXUALITY for third graders?? Uh, no. We SHOULD speak up, because this is a direct attack on our children. CHILDREN. If that ain't a clear signal who is behind this stuff, I don't know what.

It's so rampant now among all facets of the Left. Most accusations of racism and sexism now originate from cry bullies and are used as a tool to silence any opposition to their BS. I believe we need to call them out on it everytime we see it.

Something weird is going on. It just struck me, looking at that last picture of the person with the mask on Canadian TV. These people prefer the crisis. They are panicked that things will go back to normal and they'll have to decide for themselves what risks to take and what measures to take to reduce the risk. Maybe they really are very scared of Covid and they really believe that if they could just get EVERYONE to go along and mask and vax and social distance and everything else, then covid would go away and they could stop worrying. I don't know. That seemed so ridiculous as I typed it that I really can't believe that that is what they think. But I just don't know. It's just so weird that people are not happy that covid is not really killing very many people anymore and they don't need to worry about it. The only other explanation is that they like the crisis state better. They are experiencing anxiety that covid, or covid as a crisis, is going away. They prefer to worry about. Seems like Desmet hit the nail on the head.

Expand full comment
Chris Bray's avatar

"...they like the crisis state better."

It can't be ignored. The thing I've said about Desmet is that yes, these people have self-hypnotized themselves into a corner, and I think mass formation psychosis is a solid description, but we have to nail the who part: highly credentialed, high status people. The crisis empowers them, so their insanity is somewhat less than purely crazy. It's status-seeking, power-seeking behavior -- rational basis irrationality.

Having the threat on voicemail, I assume they (unclear on Scott's pronouns so going with they) went straight to the police? At least to get the threat on record, should anything happen in the future they (the police, not Scott) would have a way to connect their voice (the perpetrator, not Scott, nor the police) to any possible future incident?

And after getting accused of a Smollett on Twitter, they (back to Scott, not the police or possible assailant) showed everyone the voicemail with timestamp predating this tweet to clear their (still Scott, not the police or possible assailant) name, right?

And she's in charge. Got news for her. I'm one of those disabled folk people like her love to bang on about, hubs even more so (he has pneumonia in his left lung from a brush with death in Jan 2018 we nearly lost him twice in a week, flu and pneumonia are not to be taken lightly but the shots are useless). We don't wear masks. We don't want anyone else to wear masks. We never have and never will. 1. They don't work. 2. They make our respiratory conditions worse. 3. I'm autistic and need to lip read to communicate. So shove that in your pipe and smoke it lady 😆
