In my public library, in a purple-ish city in a very red state, there are still librarians masking. And in the "featured" carousel, there were books by Bill Gates and ones with jacket praise from Tedros. Ugh. Good idea for the collection request.
Yep, that along with such gems as "Queer birth" and "White fragility." 🙄 I tuck them back in the stacks every time I catch one on display.
The other day I saw an email chain about a patron's request for a book with "Great Reset" in the title, which the librarian assumed was Alex Jones' book. Emailed her supervisor and said though she understands she's not to be asserting her own personal feelings about a subject, author, etc., Jones was just "proven" to be a liar, ordered to pay billions and "perhaps we shouldn't be stocking our shelves with lies." Never mind that wasn't even the title the patron was referring to in his request -- which included its author.
Maybe we should start local donation campaigns. Buy two copies: one for you snd one to donate to your local library. Dare them to leave it off the shelf.
The bookstores have been one of the steadfast lockdown adherents, haven't they? It's not a good sign for classical liberalism that independent bookstores did so little to oppose being shut down.
Yeah, I was extremely irritated by the one we have here. There was a long period when they were letting a handful of people in at a time, with a door guard and a lecture about the list of requirements: distancing, masking, time limits. AND DON'T YOU DARE LET THE MASK SLIP BELOW YOUR NOSE.
Time limits is ironic. The store nearest me, which is largely directed toward pre-teen kids and their parents, removed its "masks optional but recommended" sign within the last couple weeks.
Also, I was in a modest-sized Washington city, not near Seattle, last week. A woman bookstore owner there had a black mask on her chin, outside the store, as she talked to a couple people. She could be the one retail person in town who masks.
I was in the U.K. over the summer. I had a long list of books I wanted to read on pertinent subjects related to covid and the situation we are in. The two independent bookshops I shop in looked at me as if I were mad when I asked whether they had the books in stock and then when they replied no whether they could get them for me. Not sure if this is their policy or whether their wholesalers cannot or will not source them. We might as well be living in a communist country. The alarming thing is that no-one I speak to seems to think that this is a problem. I used to love going to bookshops but I wonder what the point is now if they are just continuing the censorship!
Based on liberal attitudes toward the jabs, which locally are stuck in Summer 2021, this book will be treated with about as much interest on the left as the Autobiography of Donald Trump Jr
Kheriaty was impressive at Senator Johnson's Second Opinion discussion last January. It's good to hear that he's documenting the historical antecedents to this current eugenics push. It has been racially-based and intelligence-based, and it has been implemented, not only in black communities, but very much also (and maybe even primarily) in the Irish tenements in the big Northern cities. I hope he touches on that, that white European-Americans, along with African Americans and Native Americans, have been targets of the eugenicists all along.
"(He also writes on Substack, but you knew that.) "
No, no I didn't.
But I do now. Starting with annual, see how the book is and will consider Founder for him. Thanks for the suggestion. Despite having complete knowledge of everything I read, listen to, write, and think about, Amazon didn't think to put this book in it's "because you liked X you might like Y" algorithm.
Just bought it on Amazon. I've bought all the "heretical" books re the last few years even if I haven't read them yet (or don't think I will) and buy them in physical copies vs Kindle since digital copies can be changed without you knowing it. (I have repurchased US history books that we used in our homeschooling days, too, for the same reason, and classics that are now "bad".)
I cheated ~ my copy automatically dowloaded from Barnes & Noble earlier. As with many such purchases, I worry they will be remotely deleted from my iPad one day as Amazon did with certain digital copies of Animal Farm and 1984, ironically:
I've had this problem for years. I want to buy the books I want locally or check them out in my city libraries; most of the time I can't find them, even through interlibrary loan systems. Amazon luckily usually has what I want and even though they are my last resort, I am a good customer for books there that others won't carry.
Hi Chris. Thank you for alerting us to the publication of Dr. Kheriaty’s book, since it appears it will be shadow banned. I will order my copy directly from the publisher who took the risk of printing it, rather than a retailer. I’ve heard Dr. Kheriaty speak several times and he is very thoughtful and impressive. He was one of the lights in the darkness of Covid-Land. I’m looking forward to reading his book.
I work in a public library and will be making a collection purchase request, if nothing else than to make the selector squirm.

Best and brightest! 🥴

Drat, I just commented something like this, but you totally aced ne
or buy a case and shove one in every stupid "little sharing library" - two copies in the ones with one of *those* yard signs
I "recommended" that my county library buy it. I've done this is few times and they've always purchased my requests. Any guesses this time?

It was very warm and welcoming.

Classical liberalism is long dead.
Just checked it out from my local library, in a suburb of a epically liberal city. Ha!
Excellent!
Wow - where are you?
It’s on order at the Edmonton Public Library here in Canada, though that might have something to do with the new Premier of our province.
Regardless, kudos to EPL!

Keep us posted. I would trust a review from you.
Will do!

I'm as shocked as you. Must be a glitch.

We should buy it just because it is being ignored.
I'll ask my local library to get it.

I just submitted a purchase request to my local library. They're pretty good about buying kind of controversial books. I'll let you know what happens.
thanks for turning me on to this author.
