Step One: Sicken any children under your care or nearby with 1001 terrors, of anything and everything up to and including: a virus that poses little danger to them, or the possibility of passing on the virus to someone and KILLING THEM, or of being abducted if they walk home from school, or even of maybe having been "born in the wrong body" and needing a guardian angel to shepherd them on their Gender Journey™.
Step Two: Getting to preen in public as either the Victim or the righteous savior of the Victim, of being both radical social reformer, moral saint and emotional nurse, ready and willing to put a bandage on any wound, physical or emotional.
When these Social Justice church ladies look in the mirror they see either Rosa Parks or Mother Theresa, but they're really much more like Kathy Bates in "Misery".
And the next time, they will do the same damn thing . . .

Dear perfectly healthy son of the woman who died alone in the hospital gasping for air who had to say good-bye over Facetime because we were afraid you would spread something that was *everywhere*, thank you for your "sacrifice."
Dear mother of the child who killed himself because he felt isolated and overwhelmed when schools shut down, thank you for your "sacrifice."
Dear daughter of the drug addict who was finally get his life together but then fell off the wagon because he lost his job due to the lockdowns and couldn't go to AA meetings because churches were closed but overdosed, thank you for your "sacrifice."
Suppose we'll get any of those? Yeah, I didn't think so either.
It was up to us adults to stand up. I was at the early protests of April 2020. I called my mayor and wrote emails and I tore down the do not enter tape at playgrounds. All of you must stand up, always. Never surrender and hold these people to account. Grassroots to national. Emergency powers must be revoked at the governor level. Congress must act and stop funding the executive branch until it stops with the current pandemic emergency powers.
The children abused by cowardly adults who were thinking only of themselves are and analogous to the children abused by adult sexual predators who thought only of their own gratification. “I had an irrational fear” is not a defense to child abuse.
By the time Junior is 15 he may have to say “thanks mom for the myocarditis”, and her daughter may say “thanks for a lifetime of menstrual irregularities and infertility“.

Well said. The "victim = hero" thing, particularly around kids, has always skeeved me out. Why does society tell kids in pediatric hospitals that they're heroes? Most likely, they're victims of some unholy corporate-government malfeasance that bathed them in enough toxins to develops cancer before puberty. But yeah, there's nothing heroic about being maltreated by society. Even if it had saved grandma, it wouldn't have been heroic, because it wouldn't have been the kids' choice. They were not allowed to escape. And the seventh-grader with the IEP who didn't get his special education? He was deprived of a FAPE, and has grounds for a lawsuit. You can bet no school district solicitor is going to phrase it the way this sappy columnist did.

Somewhere earlier this year, when omicron swept over everyone, and our county attempted to reinstate masks, my daughter physically slumped. Like returning to an abuser so they could abuse you some more. And when the mandate was struck down within a day or two, I looked her square in the face and said, I hope your generation does not forget what’s been done to you. Make them pay for it.
I heard “kids are resilient” over and over and over. They’re not as resilient as these psychopaths think they are. Thanks is insulting, and no apology will ever be enough.
15 years from now: "Thank you to all the kids that endured genital mutilation. We thought gender was socially constructed, but actually we made that up to validate neurotic woke girlbosses. You are stunning. You are brave."

Fitting in terms of its poignancy. Tragic in terms of its illustration of the damage that has been inflicted on our society in general... our children specifically. Outstanding in the manner that it has made me angrier than anything else I have read concerning the topic.
I would love to read a response from the kids. As adults, we forget what its actually like to be a kid, and arrogantly, patronisingly assume to empathise. But we cannot remember the intensity of the world on young hearts.

There hasn't been a surer sign of a West in decline, than the willingness to eat it's own children and tell each other it is for the greater good.
But hey we've been eating our future for years, and kicking all manner of cans down roads.
