I work at an elem school and we still have two students who wear a mask all the time......even outside still and running laps.....when I suggest they take it off, I get the evil eye.....it's maddening....and I don't lie that I want to go up and rip it off.....
Chris - I don’t really know the best forum for this comment, or who to contact but I’ve been thinking about how to expand reach of substackers with paid content without making it prohibitively expensive for subscribers. I don’t know what the economics of substack is at this point. Would it make sense to bundle commentary by like minded writers into packages and sell it at a discount? Get ten for the price of six, to provide an example. Because if you want to read a bunch of stackers it may get expensive for some people. In this fashion I think substack may create a more robust economic model and reach a greater audience. Alternatively create a supplemental substack webpage with selected content like a homepage , not all if a creator’s content, and let people access that sampling for a smaller fee and get a taste of the various offerings. Just spitballing.
It's an interesting idea, and I'll pass it on to the Substack folks. I've been hemorrhaging paid subscribers this week -- don't know why. The Tucker Carlson stuff? But it's a slog.
I think Diane is right. I have also been thinking about the same idea Tanto has. I have a lot of paid subscriptions on substack, it is now surpassing what I once paid in subscriptions to major "newspapers", which is okay because at least I respect the people I am paying. There are a couple of variations on Substack and I don't really know the finances of any of them. Bari Weiss has what is essentially a small newspaper, lots of writers on one stack, and others have partnered up like Peter McCullough and John Leak also Michael Shellenberger and Leighton Woodhouse. Trying to stay informed and in contact with sensible people can be expensive.
Great comment. Thank you! Your ideas have a lot of merit. To have paid subscriptions to every substacker I'd like to support would be pricey. So, to support a group of substackers at an overall lower cost would be great. On the other hand, one of the great things about substack is no writer has to agree with anyone else, negotiate with anyone else, or fear getting booted out of a group because of disagreement about content (thinking of Glenn Greenwald and the Intercept, for instance). I don't know what the solution is - I think mine will be to cancel more subscriptions to expensive junk like the Financial Times (which I do need occasionally for professional purposes) and support more substackers.
I am second to no one in my loathing of the mendacious ghoul Barbara Ferrer, who combines all the worst qualities of your standard totalitarian commissar, that being stupidity, malice, unearned imperiousness, and an ability to lie even when the contradictory facts are looking her in the face...that being said, Barbara could not have caused so much pain and misery if not for the absolute cowardice and moral abdication of 1) our actual elected leaders, who pawned all their responsibilities onto her, because they were too afraid to think for themselves or stand up to anyone who shrieked "Granny killer!" (any display of integrity could be fatal for their careers); and of course 2) our completely cowed and demoralized populace (parents esp), who stood around dumbly as the govt slapped masks onto their toddlers or roped off our parks and beaches or destroyed our small businesses etc.
It takes two to tango (or in this case 3): our elite class and their political puppets, as well as their voters, have entered into a shared state of learned helplessness, where waves of dogma pour out of their screens and into their brains, which they are powerless to resist.
None of this would have happened, and Barbara Ferrer would have been sent back to her crypt to molder, if we lived in a state led by adults willing to think for themselves and accept responsibility.
she looks like the crypt keeper from tales from the crypt. imagine finding the least healthy looking person imaginable to front your city's public health function.

Can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin. But don't ask me 'bout the Chinese flu, and if you don't wear a mask I'm gonna jail you.
(I know Lindsey wasn't in the band when Oh Well came out, but still, I couldn't pass it up.)
I remember this THING. I just look at her and listen to what spews out of her pie hole, and I know she knows nothing about health! She needs a damn steak!
I want to donate. However, I won't use PayPal if I have to create an account, which is what it looked like I had to do. Is sending a check a possibility?
I just contributed. I NEVER want to see a mask on a child again.
It is visceral disgust to me and brings me nothing but sorrow to see the littles ones depersoned by cowardly adults!

It makes me sick the PHA'S used mental brutality to break some of these kids.
I fear they're lost. It's really sad.
Yup...these two for SURE......
Damn straight

Sorry to hear you are losing subscribers; I just subscribed. I love your writing. Keep it up!
Thank you.
Keep doing you. You and gato put out the best shit.
It will come.
Good point!

Yes!
SMART.
thx!
Mask or no mask, she looks like an undead ghoul from one of my kids’ video games. She looks better with the mask on.
LOLOLOL
Why do I suspect the many people would be very pleased if she just stayed "lost". One Kerry is one too many.
Done. May she be as successful as Bobbie Cox.
contributed based on you having done the same. Saves me having to vet...

Kind of like the self described junk foodaholic Dr. Peter Hotez.

Is Ferrer the lady with the purse, turning away from the camera and looking at that old emaciated hippie dude?
