I think the target is not so much Trump himself, as it is the populist movement that punished the establishment and elected him. The nomenklatura is furious and scared when there's an injection of popular will. They want that crushed.

You're right on target. It's not about Trump. They fear populism because they have formed a uniparty oligarchy.

Yes. Exactly.

The nomenklatura want "love of country" to be confused with "love of government".

Sadly Kayleen, it HAS "accelerated lately". The US is very rapidly being supplanted by China as the world's leading economy. And perhaps as the world's most powerful military.

The last two years feels as if we've all given up. We let the lunatics take over operation of the asylum. And the ruling classes are simply grabbing all they can, as quickly as they can. Think of flocks of carrion birds descending on a dying animal. Almost every day we witness the further disintegration of all that is good, and the triumph of evil.

No, its NOT your imagination.

This country is dying because the elites are killing it with their greed for power and money and to distract from that they introduce craziness of all kind.

That's not quite correct. I mention it because the part missing from your post is rather crucial.

It's much clearer in german of course, but this is a more correct translation:

"He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you."

You see how the commonly used mistranslation you used is wrong and how the meaning has been changed thanks to that mistranslation.

German:

"Wer mit Ungeheuern kämpft, mag zusehn, dass er nicht dabei zum Ungeheuer wird. Und wenn du lange in einen Abgrund blickst, blickt der Abgrund auch in dich hinein."

Really though, one need to read 'Beyond Good and Evil' in its entirety. It's full of good stuff.

"Das, was ein Alter fühlt sich böse zu sein ist in der Regel ein vorzeitiges Widerhall dessen, was ehemals als gut - der Atavismus eines alten ideal."

A bit too on the nose perhaps, given what is happening in and to the United States at present.

The totalitarians have to destroy Trump because he's the about the only Republican they can't bribe or bully. But we conservatives/traditionalists are to blame for this current chaos and collapse because we didn't stand up to these groups, thinking they would quit after every one of their victories. It comes down to this: conservatives think leftists are good people who have very bad ideas. Leftists think conservatives are just very bad people. That's why you see the intense hatred, in particular of practicing Christians, who everywhere and forever have been a conservative religious group.

If I have to hear "Donald Trump is not above the law" one more time . . .

Well, let's start having a discussion about who *is* above the law, or so it would seem.

I may not care for Trump, but we couldn't do anything about Bush and Obama, both who are basically war criminals with millions of deaths on their hands, and Clinton and Biden, who both used and are using their offices to get rich selling influence and secrets. On top of it, Clinton is a serial sexual assaulter and rapist (both actually and statutorily).

So if those four are walking free (not just "free" but having praise heaped on them day in and day out) but you go after Trump on some whacked out legal theory that a hush money payment is a political donation . . . you've just turned this country into a banana republic and reduced our "democracy" cred to zero.

The academic and bureaucratic parasite class lives on a different level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs.

While the rest of us are trying to feed our kids and navigate an increasingly treacherous world where we are forced to take experimental medicine, where we at risk of losing our meager jobs for saying men cannot get pregnant, where we have our children endure ethnic harassment in public schools, and where we deal with rapidly increasing cost of living, women like Ruth Ben-Ghiat have their needs fulfilled by the heavily taxed productive class, so in their minds, the purpose of the government is to validate their feelings and provide them with affirmation.

That's why when people like Trump fail to provide them with that affirmation, they think it is authoritarianism. Since her material wellbeing is taken care of by the proles (who not only pay her salary, but bear the cost of her delusions), it's unthinkable that any pragmatic decision that fails to provide affirmation is motivated by anything other than a desire to be a "bad person".

Donald J. Trump is the only 2024 presidential candidate who strikes absolute fear into the hearts of the demonic leftists who are destroying the United States. They cannot control him, so he is dangerous.

And Trump loves our country the way most real Americans do.

I believe that if you do not support Trump's presidency, you might as well go ahead and vote for Joe or whichever other puppet will be backed by the marxists.

I'm extremely frustrated with Trump over Covid policy: pro-lockdown, criticizing governors who ended lockdown, Operation Warp Speed, pro-mRNA injections, not firing Fauci. It appears they can control him to some degree, which makes their response to him that much more ridiculous. Maybe he will have learned some lessons that he can apply in his second term.

Hmmmm. Is that a triumph of hope over reality? It is still (just) possible that the Donald could win the next election. If he's allowed to run. If voting is limited to actual voters, and if the votes are honestly counted. Biggest IF: if we keep going in the direction we are headed, if Donald Trump is still alive in 2024.

Expand full comment

Trump hasn’t learned any lessons. He’s not the kind of man to reflect on his actions and change course. All the proof you need is how he is still bragging about all the lives he saved from his lockdowns and Warp Speed.

Trump can’t get anything done because the uniparty hates him and he failed to drain the swamp the first time around. In retrospect, my opinion is that his presidency was a total failure. His response to covid was the nail in the coffin. (Brownstone has written a lot about how Jared and his b-school buddies and Birx were allowed to run the show.) On top of that, Trump’s simply too old. We don’t need another doddering 80 year old president.

Name ANY other presidential candidate who could have withstood the firestorm Trump has endured and continues to endure. He terrifies the Left! Why would you support anyone other than Trump? He now knows who the few actual patriots are in DC, and he has everything to lose by running again.

NO other candidate has as much to lose, and NO other president treated the office of President as that of a CEO. Your vote against Trump is a vote to continue America's destruction.

Expand full comment

I had much hope when Trump was elected in 2016. He wasn’t a status quo career politician, and he had tapped in to the concerns of everyday Americans who were being ignored in DC. Yes the firestorm was severe, from the media, the Democrats, and especially his own party. Then the courts tied up a lot of the good things he tried to do.

But all we really ended up with after four years of Trump was gridlock, a sham election, and the foundation laid for Biden to ratchet up the covid tyranny. Why do you think an older, angrier Trump is going to be more effective next time?

Expand full comment

If you are not able to elect a person who isn’t up to their ears in the covid tyranny, not only will USA soon cease to exist, but humanity too.

Too large a burden on any person to bear?

I fear yes. And so it’s the end.

The US is in a bad place, as Chris documents in every post. Here in California people love the tyranny, love having government “keep them safe” from a Very Dangerous Pandemic.

this time trump is just out for revenge.Wants to boost his over sized ego. His message now is all about how he was mistreated and screwed over(which he was). If he wins, and I dont think its possible, It will be a very interesting 4 years.

Because NOW he understands the games that DC is playing with all our lives and with our country's future.

Trump came into office thinking there were reasonable, businesslike people in DC who wanted to do the best for America -- and found out the hard way that not only were the Democrat Pelosis and Schumers ready to destroy him before their grift was destroyed, but there were also the RINO Ryans and McConnells lying to his face while stabbing him in the back for the same reasons.

I believe Trump was aware of the swamp but was unprepared for how deep it goes.

Again, have you ever witnessed all of Washington DC, both Left and Right, try so very hard for so very long to completely destroy and discredit one man the way they are working against Trump?

If they fear one man that much, then that man is the one I want leading our country out of its spiraling marxist doom.

Agree with everything in above post. I was so mad watching those daily pressers with Birx and Fauci. I had an insight that perhaps successful execution of the Covid plan was only possible with Trump.

It’s just that after hearing umpteen references to “the Third World” and “banana republics” in the hours after the indictment news, I was getting a little testy about the assumed standard of U.S. republican (and Republican) purity from which this was being marked as a departure. (The background of the term banana republic, in particular, should be explicated to more Americans, along with the concept of karma.)
