Additional thought, ten seconds after hitting the "post" button:

Trump's political opponents have argued, or tried to, that Trump CAUSED an "insurrection," that his words and actions were the motive force behind the events of January 6. How does a headline that frames his actions on January 6 as "dereliction" –– as negligence, as a choice to not act –– serve the claim that he's THE CAUSE?

None of the people making these claims are thinking about them anymore. They're performing an oppositional role, ritually chanting their politics.

Sigh… the TDS is beyond belief. I work with people who, even now, have weekly Zoom meetings to Hate on Trump. With appropriate wine and cheese pairings of course. I hope they all start eating bugs for their 2 Minute Hate sessions.

The National Guard, which Trump offered to send in was refused by the DC Honchos who were responsible for DC security. They refused.

DC cops ushered the protesters into the Capitol too.

I'm reading about the post-Caesar power struggle as the Roman Republic became the Roman Empire and the final 2 contestants for Emperor were Marc Antony v Octavian (Augustus).

Once those 2 lined up for battle every aristocrat and courtier had to choose a side and publicly pledge allegiance to one or the other, which was very risky considering that if you chose wrong you would not only lose your head but possibly also your family estates and exalted position in the nobility.

I'm not sure how apt the analogy is, but I see a similarity in how every public-facing parasite from general to general contractor to professor to 3rd-rate celeb feels the need to declare a side in our current power struggle of the Woke Globalists v Trump/Republicans/Deplorables/Nationalists etc.

I guess the (subliminal?) memo has gone out to everyone who hopes to eat off the globalist plate (for the rest of their lives and maybe their children's too): either you do your part in the struggle to kill the Trump dragon and embrace the vendetta against the man and his supporters, or never expect another promotion, junket, sinecure, job, paycheck etc.

"What did you do in the war against the Bad Orange Man, Daddy?"

And if you can't point to an article, speech, essay, Tweet, etc that you wielded like a shiv to prove your allegiance to our rightful ruling class, you may never see the feeding trough again.

Very true.

Very unfair to the Romans.

Biden’s a crook with Dementia.

Trump’s a coward in the test.

i guess the point i was going for is that in times of intense civil strife (civil war or other factional disputes) everyone is forced to choose a side and displaying your loyalty to your side and your desire to attack the other side becomes the paramount value, the first thing you need to let everyone know in every situation.

True. At the DC level and in many professions, although I’ll tell you in the National Guard we stopped talking politics October 2020, except in Private. Its not distrust or fear, just the need to be cohesive above all. The unit matters, the rest of the world does not at the approach or presence of danger, in war your unit is the world.

Oh and its all nonsense.

The worst mistake the elites ever made was Pelosi and crowd playing at and only playing at Sulla and dragging us resentfully over the Rubicon.

FATAL it just takes time.

One does not play at Sulla.

Bonus ☠️ points; having their creatures insult, demean us at every turn where sane people would have shown goodwill, kicking us out literally of The Elites Starbucks in Capitol basement after we spent the night freezing outside guarding them Jan 12-13- the following Monday they came back to work.

☠️

Most expensive coffee ever bitchez.

The same bunch that are demanding street refuse can pollute Starbucks denied us morning coffee.

Showing physical fear around the guns too. ☠️

The dumbest mistake in history.

There is no rival.

Yes and my Privates saw it before me , to their bewilderment.

I was watching my soldiers and for threats, no one else exists (this is me the NCO it’s automatic).

I wasn’t even seeing the NPCs walk by, not a threat.

Letting a 20 year old soldier see that...

Oh dear.

Except the "Trump" thing is still a set up to divide and conquer. He played his part. Got the folks to hate on each other. Provided the narrative to cover the ushering in of the next more compliant-looking/demented globalist puppet. While everyone's on the battle field, the palaces are being looted and everyone in both "armies" have been convinced to drink a poison by the ones who put marc antony and octavian up to the staged battle in the first place. When both armies collapse and "die suddenly," the hoodwinkers take all. You will own nothing and be happy (or dead).

The most infuriating claim is that Trump - alone among politicians - had no right to consider options for disputing the outcome of state elections that he believed did not reflect the actual vote in the state. That’s a great rule for people who want to steal an election. Unless you conclusively identify all illegal ballots as the election is taking place, they get to be counted. I suspect that if Joe Biden had lost and made the same claims and considered the same actions, real investigations would have been initiated immediately.

I'm sorry, but as a 25 year veteran of the United states Navy, and a former Commanding Officer, I must protest!

Did any, or even ONE, of these "Retired Generals and Admirals" write to the NYT to condemn General Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for his treasonous actions in going behind the back of his Commander in Chief to assure the Chinese that this country would not attack them? Even ONE?

If none of these "Retired Generals and Admirals" saw fit to condemn General Milley, then we should understand that their criticism of Trump is borne not out of Duty, Honor, Country, but rather out of sycophantic partisanship, cowardice, and a desire to retain their precious pensions!

How dare they call themselves Officers of the United States Military. They are, to a man, shameful, and I refuse to call them "Brothers in Arms!"

I wanted to reply with something more substantial than what follows, but just wanted to get this out of my chest: like or dislike DJT, nothing in recent history so badly broke a Nation than the “administration” of Joseph “let me smell your hair” Biden.

If there’s ever been treason, selling out, covertly working for the enemy etc... in the history of the American Republic, Uncle Joe’s admin IS the textbook example.

Our country is run by sociopaths, spoiled toddlers, and degenerates. I would say that these flag officers, and the other assorted officials and ex-officials who’ve been writing these various, conveniently timed, ( totally meaningless to anybody who is not in the TDS cult) Orange Man Bad / Russia! missives since the beginning of the Trump era, are debasing themselves, but all they are doing is revealing their true colors. These guys are supposed to lend an imprimatur of authority to this January 6 kabuki Stalinist show trial. But all they are doing is demonstrating how stupid the whole thing is and how pathetically invested in the Swamp they are. In other words, if there was a crime, they would have prosecuted Trump. There would be no need for these little demonstrations of disapproval by the eminence gris types. It’s the same old shtick: when the Democrat Keystone Cops inevitably fail, the power class just calls Trump names and Trump ends up looking better.

If you hate Trump, grow up. He’s the only guy who can possibly turn this mess around.

I don’t care about his hair, his braggadocio, his weird diction, etc.. He gets results. He’s actually courageous. He cares about the country. The Republicans sans Trump are essentially useless. And the Democrats are dangerous fruit cakes. He won the 2020 election and he’ll win again in 2024. The Dems are flailing and this is just more evidence of that.

That was clearly not an insurrection. What a stupid lie they perpetrate on the gullible public. Once they were inside, allowed inside, did they insurrect anything? They just walked around like tourists. I don't like Trump or any politician but I hate lies and the democrats keep pretending that it was an insurrection. What bullshit.

The New York Times encourages its writers to follow the "shit sandwich" formula -- if you look at the top or bottom of a shit sandwich, you'll see bread, so it halfway looks like a sandwich, and you may not even notice the shit in between (assuming you hold your nose). This article follows that formula: the very top and bottom parts appear to contain an intelligible claim, but in between is straight shit, nothing of any substance or value, and nothing to substantiate the claims made at the beginning or end.

Some wise dude once observed that addiction is a kind of nostalgia, endlessly repeating the action in the hope of regaining the pure pleasure of that first drink or first cigarette or first screw.

These show trials are an addiction for the media and politicians, hoping to recapture the pure pleasure of Watergate. 1974 was the joyous deflowering of the radicals in media. Every show trial since then has gained less and less attention from the peasants, but there's no methadone for power addiction.

All these flag officers are what the late Col David Hackworth so aptly referred to as “Rear Echelon Mother Fuckers”…the kind of asshats that show up way after the dirty work has been done and make you shave, put on a clean uniform, and miss hot chow so they can have pictures taken glad handing and pep talking the troops… the kind of clowns who have been in charge of the billions of dollars worth of uniform redesigns that have happened over the last 20 years, political appointee hacks without a drop of testosterone between them…I hold them all in utter contempt

Going back at least as far as C. Wright Mills’ The Power Elite (1950s) demonstrated, our military and corporate elites lack legitimacy, and are parasites on the body politic. The generals haven’t won a war since WWII (no, blowing the shit out of hapless Vietnamese rice farmers, Iraqis and Afghan tribesmen doesn’t count as real war). But they’re super competent at protecting their rice bowls, with lucrative defense industry board memberships and media gigs waiting for them after their “service”screwing the nation six ways from Sunday. Trump was far from perfect, but judging by his enemies we can see that he at least tried.

It seems to me that “January 6” was a good distraction from other things that happened on January 6. I was watching Mike Pence and the counting of the electoral votes on tv that day. The congressman from AZ was not going to go along with casting his votes for Joe Biden. He was about to give the reasons for it. I was thinking “ok, this is going to be interesting “. Then all of the sudden they had to evacuate because of a bomb threat. Great timing. And then an insurrection, too. Who writes this stuff?

Exactly. That was exactly my thought in real time. I knew it was staged from the get go.
