I think you could take a hybrid approach--maybe designate every Friday to be a roundup of the week's stupidity. Or maybe a Monday, "Just another Hack-filled Monday".
Insightful and entertaining writing that doesn't sound like everything else--that is your niche. So hack watching is fine, but as your intuition tells you...don't let it dominate you. You are better than that.
This makes sense but I think you can still keep it all on this blog. Just create a label that identifies the piece as a hack article, such as Sunday meme pool. I know you read those (talking to Chris).
I want it all kept on this blog, but this one day a week approach will work. I read other blogs that devote time to a special subject one day a week and it works fine.
That is a great answer! Worthy of the number one position. I concur.
The only thing I’d add is please don’t stop cataloguing the way so many have LIED, because they were bought and paid for, for the most part. This needs to be remembered. And one day (soon, I hope) they need to be held accountable for the great harm they do/did.
This is your blog space and you write what you feel you should write about. We like to read your thoughts - whatever they are are. If we don’t want to we can skip that time. This woukd be the same if there were two or one. It’s easier to keep up with one.
"Mildly irritated" speaks to your remarkable calm. I passed by that 40 years ago, here in CA.
I'd say one rather than two. You could add a clown photo (as above) to delineate the feature.
Aired on KABC, the Dan Bongino radio show has a "Fact Checker Clown Show" and to signal that, it's a clown horn. You can't do that, obviously, but showing a picture of Bozo or Chucko or clown shoes would suffice.
I come to this page for the “mildly irritated” and stay for the “discussion about another idiotic piece of lazy bullshit from some sleazy legacy media halfwit.”
Your questions ignore several thousand highly specific edge cases that I just brainstormed, so I'm going to complain here in the comments about your imprecision instead of participating in the poll.
Nah, I'm fucking with you. Don't change anything. Everyone's changing shit and it's all worse and weird and stupid. Stop changing anything for at least a couple years.
Guttermouth, google changes google search results, and all their software like google classroom etc. at least once a month. Web sites change all the time and you have to wander around for hours to find something you could find before in a day. Ditto businesses. It is beyond ridiculous. The time wasted having to relearn a site or a piece of software is highly aggravating...Fall is especially irritating as the tech designers always want to change how things worked from last spring. Iḿ with Ryan...dont want changes /choice.
I don’t read newspapers, or watch tv, and I’m not on social media. Most of my information comes from the various substacks I subscribe to, and the people I talk to. Please carry on writing about whatever suits your fancy. Yours is one of my favorite substacks and you somehow inspired me to run for school board.
Why yes, it is. Not sure what chance I have of winning. But my opponent has no children and he’s been running around REMOVING MY SIGNS. What is wrong with people?
I enjoy all your articles. And while your default condition may be mildly irritated, mine is angry. For the same reasons. And while it can get depressing reading all the half (and less) truths by legacy media, it’s actually important to have a place to find them. To find the event altogether (since many on the left will know about it) but also to have the lies lined up next to the truth. I may not always remember them all when confronted by my liberal family members’ indignant “don’t get me started on THAT!” With the “THAT’s” being all things Republican and all things republican being “far right”, fascist, white national (still don’t have a problem w that term), Unamerican, racist, homophobic, transphobic, encouraging violence etc etc etc. I often start with a question: how can all republicans be all those things when democrats to you are a lovely rich and textured fabric??? How did you get there when I’m 100% certain 10 years ago a Republican was, well, just a Republican. Probably someone you liked but maybe annoyed you when it came to promoting Wall Street over Main Street and that God isn’t making all our decisions. But that’s about it. We still drank the same beer, rooted for the same football team and celebrated each other’s families milestones. How. Did. We. Create. So. Much. Animosity???? Out of thin air. Oh right… Trump and the great awakening. But only for some. And that divide has been bastardized by the media. And our uniparty of lobbyist whores. So I try-often now without much success- to broach topics that arise with some kind of knowledge. If I have it. And your substack and some others are the places I trust. And verify. I appreciate your content, the detail, the sarcasm and wit. Most of all I appreciate the truth.
Your witty reportage is much appreciated on both your personal view of the world, your life and experience as well as pointing out others distortions. Polemic should not die but neither should upbeat machinations. The balance of the two make interesting reading. Play through!
I spent years trying to wake people up and save people. Just lost my first vaccinated friend to aortic rupture. He was 48 and crazy healthy. We can't save 'em. Can't make blind people see. I stopped. I just removed myself from the conversation, because it was destroying me. The stupidity and willfull blindness was literally destroying my soul. And you know what? There is a whole world out here, ready for creative and smart people to do smart things. There is no changing the system. The revolution is in creating the new one. You writing on Substack is a perfect example. Thank God and Thank You! But, why keep yourself in a perpetual state of irritation? You won't save anyone. I want to hear about the really smart healers, growers, and makers doing really smart things.
I'm hoping to be able to travel more to write about those really smart healers, growers, and makers doing really smart things, but it's a hard moment for that because of family stuff. I really like what Peter Santenello does on YouTube, and would love to do something comparable:
I just watched the first one, where he was in Savoonga. That was good for my heart. Thanks for sharing! I'll watch the other one and check out more of his stuff. I hope you find some space to re-center and decide what direction is best for you. Take care.
I like the substack medium. You decide what to write and I'll decide if I'm going to read it. Usually, I do. You are a good writer, and you choose your topics well. I cancelled David French today. He keeps on explaining why Trump is the worst and the Democrats aren't so bad. He could mix it up a little. Keep mixing it up a little.
I'm not sure what the advantage of segmenting it out is. The context you add to events is valuable, so I assume that you would add similar value in a text based description when pointing out various main stream media hacks. Keep it here please. It'll fit.
I get it. But, personally, I don't find these hack watch articles boring. I basically don't read anything mainstream so if you didn't point this garbage out I would only have a vague feeling that it was going on out there versus knowing it is actually happening, and in excruciating detail. So keep it up. Know your audience. I can't be the only person on Substack and your Substack who doesn't know much about the fake world as we've disengaged as much as we can.
IMO don’t water yourself down, Chris- one place is all we need - you bring a unique and critical perspective we can’t get anywhere else - and if someone is complaining- they might even be paid shills or non-compensated trolls trying to break your flow... don’t let them - they can go elsewhere...you are in the top 2% of outstanding writers covering the mayhem out there.
Whatever you decide, I'm confident I will laugh out loud at some point before I reach the end. Well, maybe at the end, too, which in this case is what happened. I'm with you once, twice or three times if that is what you decide. Great writing knows no bounds.
I like your deeply considered, well-researched pieces. While I understand your splenetic, exasperated pieces about the latest idiocy, I don't think it would be a bad idea to publish those on a related, but separate channel. Remember--free advice is often worth what it costs!

Great idea! I like it. Just highlights of the complete "dumb shits" which there's many to choose from.

It’s soul food.
Never change.
Your questions ignore several thousand highly specific edge cases that I just brainstormed, so I'm going to complain here in the comments about your imprecision instead of participating in the poll.

Agree.
That's not one of the choices!
That's the point:
I don't want any choices.
My mind: blown.

Don’t go changing to try to please me, you never let me down before
That will be in my head for the rest of the week--not that I mind.
mine too!!
I like it all and I like your take. The bastards deserve skewering and I enjoy watching them roast on a damn spit.
Carry on!

Is this you? EMILY FOR SCHOOL BOARD! Great!

Catch him. With video. Voters loathe that behavior.

Agree. I feel your writing is much more interesting than when dealing with idiots.
