Nice post, thank you.

As Georgia Meloni, the new PM of Italy said; ‘Because when I am only a number, when I no longer have an identity or roots, then I will be the perfect consumer slave at the mercy of financial speculators... The perfect consumer.’

This old farmer says: Hell Chris, you're just a misplaced hillbilly. You'll eventually learn that the sewer you live in will just flush you on through when it's done with you. You ought come back to Porter's land and sit for a while. But if you do, leave all of those SoCal things there. They are unappreciated here. Laughed at. Or beat down. This is how the USA used to be, all over. Now the only sense of the Red White and Blue is in the 'fly over' country. Y'all can just keep on flyin' over, rather than bringin' your special kind of AmeriWokism here. Come on back and have a taste. I came nearly 50 years ago. I missed the mess a leetle dab, but the freedom I got made me learn to appreciate the responsibility that I had to accept. Take care

Porter Wagoner: the man that made Dolly Parton a star.

Your drive and photos made for a great interlude in the chaos we find ourselves in. The gang of quadrupeds you stumbled into made for a nice touch. You never know what you're going to see when out in the wilds.

Yes, Mr. Gates has a very cold utilitarian view of humankind. One that does not factor in much of humanity. But the transhumanist are all pagans or atheists. And Malthusian in their economic views of society. In their own way, they have come up with their own Final Solution, but apply much more broadly, and subtly.

It is a joyless vision, and that's why I'm certain it will fail. Humans will triumph eventually but I think it's going to be a slog.

The history of Asia does not lend itself to the Triumph of Humanity or Joy.

Or Freedom.

Nor much of European history, but enough.

American history more, but there is never yet a situation where people were passive and were free or even survived- and merely speaking or writing is passive.

Better stop slogging and start marching.

You're right. I can't change what happens in China and neither can you. But we can both start with our own families and communities. What do you think I've been doing for the past 3 years since the covid nonsense woke me up to this?

Expand full comment

I’m all for that, however what happens to the nation happens to community and family.

We have no interest in China, we have an interest in our nation, most acutely it is very, very interested in us, our communities, our families, our very children and the acute interest is not benevolent.

And they will not be denied by any Community smaller than Fort Hood, TX, which is why we have nations and why we have 1776, and frankly why the Afghans and Iraqi went through Hell to see off the same people who gaze at us now, and I don’t blame them.

But of course you know this...

so...

People need a leader. The powers that be understand this. Look how they used psychology during covid. We don't even have community, let alone a leader ( i don't count either political party or Trump for that matter). This is going to take time. How many of you were even thinking like this until covid? Some of us have been pounding this table since 2008, i'm glad you're here now but this is going to take time.

i recently had a rather tense conversation (that may have been more so, had it not been held at a coffee shop midday) with one of my few friends who - amazingly - has chosen to remain my friend, in spite of my dirt-person-unjabbed-status. she, her husband, and their three school age kids all willingly accepted the jab, at the behest of her sweet, well-intended sister-in-law, who happens to be a nurse practitioner and professor. essentially, i realized the conversation had reached an impasse, because purely anecdotal information from her "mom's friend who's a hospice nurse says everyone who is dying in her care hasn't been vaxxed," prevented her from hearing a single point i brought up.

you can lead a horse to water, but ya can't make him drink.

we enjoyed the rest of our afternoon together, and i'm thankful that i know she won't "unfriend" me despite our variation in views... but my take-away is this: we can choose to live willingly with our heads in the sand for the sake of instant and mediocre (at best) gratification, or we can choose to pay attention, because we believe that human life has value, sanctity, and those who are not able to defend or speak for themselves deserve a fighting chance at living with dignity and JOY.

i'm SO exhausted by all of this shit, and i don't say that without full recognition of the millions of people who feel the same way, but i simply can't continue playing "life" in complete denial of the things i know, and can't un-know. my heart breaks for the people whom i love, dearly, who just either don't want to see what's right in front of them, or can't handle it; of which, i'm not sure. the prospect of living in a joyless, controlled world surpasses my willingness to keep my mouth shut, and breaks my heart far more than the threat of creating enemies for being honest. what a weird, awful mindf*ck this has all been, and continues to be. my hope is that these power-hungry, total blowhard dillholes (gates, schwab, and the whole lot) who are completely devoid of real human connection will underestimate, sorely, the ability and the capacity of the human spirit to muck through it all, and overcome.

and in the spirit of thanksgiving, i'm ever-so-thankful - in the weirdest way - for an internet platform full of people who make me feel less crazy and less alone. it's a cruel world, and i'm glad for a glimmer of hope and sanity.

I just finished listening to the book Chris Bray read. It is another of a long list of sobering realities. And I, too, am exhausted and understand acquiescence and giving in just to make the crazy stop. But acquiescence is the enemy. It is the undoing of our children's future. I'll be fine. I got to live in a free world and got to appreciate all the progress in opportunities for women, minorities, etc. My kids won't know better. And when they realize what they lost and what they acquiesced for was a lie, it will be a hard and possibly violent battle. (BTW, I work in the Emergency room...tis the season for upper respiratory illnesses and the 2022 evolution of Covid is no more dangerous than a cold or flu. The vaccine doesn't protect you, others and any benefit is very short-lived.)

The fact that Gates can get away with the most absurd, facile, LAUGHABLE reductionism without ANY national chief medical officer dismissing him as a nut is one of the most bizarre and sinister cognitively dissonant phenomena I've ever experienced.

Good point, Chris, and I agree, but: there were malthusian oligarchs in the 20th century too, yet my impression was that our public administrators were ostensibly less corruptible. What changed?

Expand full comment

The Patriot Act, the rise of the surveillance state, DHS, we talk about the Deep State at State Dept or Education and they are bad, but it is the power of the Deep State at Defense and Justice and Homeland Security that makes them so difficult to get rid of. The corruption of FBI ,CIA, NSA and Pentagon and the like is the real tyranny in this country. Make no mistake, those are the ones who steal elections, ignore orders from Congress and President, give no account for their actions to anyone. Never forget, Fauci is the highest paid civil servant since 2004 because of special, secret work he does for the defense department. That's where it begins. Those are the questions he needs to answer under oath.

Oligarchical capture of just about every facet of government is near the headwaters of our trouble.

Expand full comment

I think so. The root of that side of it to my mind, has two sources.

1)buying and selling of debt as an asset- this is a recipe for mass financialization leading to a permanent serf class

2)the immortality of corporations-the cost for failure is just a golden parachute and another amorphous blob sucks up everything left of the original that might be profitable. Corporations can't go to prison or pay real consequences for their evil. Whatever anyone thinks of my religion, the proof for the Fall of Man is before your eyes every day, where there are no consequences evil grows like a weed.

Of course, the lack of a robust death penalty is a great evil that drives all of this. As long as Fauci, and Bourla, and Trudeau, and Biden, and Gates and the whole lot of them have no chance of facing a noose for their behavior it will not stop.

I was struck by my lifelong disgust for "Windows"; stealing other ideas, telling you that whatever was broken was just bad user input, that you needed to pay for a subscription, that there were errors in the last release, so just invest more of your non-billable time in reloading/adjusting/working around our horse-shit. This current vaccine has "Windows" and Microsoft written all over it..... We'll capture the market, force you to use it, blame you for the problems and remind you that you owe us money.

This brought a tear to my eye: “So the conflict comes down to a body in a car, sitting at an intersection in the desert and deciding, on a whim, to turn toward the Sierra Nevadas instead of driving on into Nevada.”. It reminded me of my Dad who would say to us on the weekend, “let’s go for a drive.” The destination was never known or spoken of. We got there when things looking interesting and we stopped.

Maybe that’s why I’m the way I am. I will never live in a box. I love my Dad too much to surrender the joy he taught me to find in the tiniest moments of freedom and exploration to some soulless engineers.

They may cherish the term engineer for its intellectual cachet. An engineer however is someone who will design with an eye toward error correction. A well engineered contraption or system is one with room for error and mechanisms to deal with it. This is borne out of a certain humility, even a genius can not foresee all eventualities.

Social ‘engineers’ lack any such self-awareness. They desire a perfectly static, unchangeable world and have deluded themselves that they are just to people to make it happen. They are mountebanks. Social quacks.

Yes. We need to keep repeating this over and over. Rather than accept where we’ve gone off the rails and reverse course, they’re leaning into it and normalizing it. Had the horrific thought that these “engineers” know that we’re harming people on a massive scale, and they’re trying to weed out the ones who are genetically weak. I hate that this thought even occurred to me. And I also hate that there’s probably some truth in it.
