Kagan and Nuland live in terror of not being able to feast off the labor of others. God forbid they ever have to do one honest day's work in their lives -- it just might kill them. I've made comment that our elite has yet to reach the zenith of corruption of the 18th century French aristocracy - but they are clearly working to that.

I'm not sure, chiefly because the sheer number of plutocrats these days...and it's global...not just within each country.

The other thing to consider, is the power is distributed/diffuse/decentralized outside the king's "court"...but yet more connected then ever.

Plus they have control, for all intents and purposes, of the energy supply...they'll eventually say; "feed them candles!!!". They also have more ways to create confusion, panic and fear than ever before.

Lastly, but just as important, bugs are considered a delicacy these days

I too think there is nothing they won’t try to hold onto their power. They are just that stupid and evil.

It seems pretty obvious to me that their grip isn’t as strong as they think it is, but their hubris to think they can ride the whirlwind they’ll unleash unscathed may be a critical factor in their demise.

Just praying that God is merciful and it’s of short duration, whatever comes. I can hear the bands thrumming ever louder…the tension is getting higher all the time.

Never going to happen. Those two (Kagan & Nuland) are too smart for that. They'll never go for elected office, just rather pull strings in the back. And then quietly slither away when the figureheads are led to the guillotine.

They are hired help, and they can be fired. Trump excluded Nuland, Obama (via Biden) dropped her back in.

Anyways, Nuland was fired not long ago, probably some other players are being shuffled about. Probably not for the purpose of shuffling better players into action, unfortunately.

Would love you know what he cited (footnote 4) in support of the proposition that MAGA represented “restoring white cultural and political primacy.” The thing is, I think people like Robert Kagan actually believe this stuff. That, and their proximity to power, is what makes them dangerous.

A poll on the Iraq War from the Pew Research Center. The footnote for the claim about white supremacy is entirely a claim that Republicans mostly still support the invasion of Iraq.

You mean the invasion of Iraq that was the project of precisely the neocon clique of which the Kagans are prominent members?

What a garbage attempt at a flex by footnoting his racially inflammatory (mis)representation of MAGA with a poll about Republican support of OIF. Absolute non sequitur brainworms.

He should have put a Rick Astley link as the footnote - it would have been at least as relevant to his wackadoo claim as the Pew poll and might lighten the mood a bit.

I have no idea. On another news site this week I watched a video of people in Poland(!) under the influence of fentanyl who were exhibiting what was reported as “zombie like” behaviour. They looked exactly like these Philadelphians.

Expand full comment

Yes, I've seen multiple videos like this from Dem cities, all attributing the bent posture to fentanyl.

Expand full comment

I have wondered about this numerous times myself, so I decided to ask our new Talking Computers. Here is the answer. I tried to emphasize "how the hell are they still STANDING UP THOUGH?" in my question. That's in #5.

===

The phenomenon of bending over at the waist while standing, often referred to as "zombie-like" or "Tranq stance," is a distinctive feature of Xylazine intoxication. This unusual posture is attributed to the drug's effects on the central nervous system, particularly the brainstem and spinal cord. Here's a breakdown of the possible mechanisms behind this bizarre behavior:

1. **Muscle relaxation and weakness**: Xylazine is a potent muscle relaxant, which means it can cause a significant decrease in muscle tone. This can lead to a loss of muscle strength, making it difficult for the user to maintain an upright posture. As the drug takes effect, the muscles in the back, abdomen, and legs may become so relaxed that the person can no longer support their own weight, causing them to bend forward at the waist.

2. **Brainstem depression**: Xylazine can depress the brainstem, which is responsible for regulating many of the body's automatic functions, such as breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure. This depression can disrupt the normal functioning of the brainstem, leading to a loss of muscle coordination and balance. As a result, the person may struggle to maintain their posture, causing them to bend over or slump forward.

3. **Spinal cord effects**: Xylazine can also affect the spinal cord, which is responsible for transmitting nerve signals between the brain and the rest of the body. The drug may disrupt the normal functioning of the spinal cord, leading to a loss of proprioception (the ability to sense the position and movement of one's body). This can cause the person to become disoriented and lose their sense of balance, resulting in the characteristic bent-over posture.

4. **Sedation and disconnection from surroundings**: Xylazine can produce a strong sedative effect, making users feel disconnected from their surroundings and less aware of their physical environment. This disconnection can lead to a lack of concern for their posture or physical well-being, allowing them to bend over or slump forward without realizing it.

5. **Compensatory mechanisms**: Despite the muscle weakness and brainstem depression, the body's compensatory mechanisms may still attempt to maintain some level of posture. This can result in the person bending over at the waist while still managing to stand, albeit precariously. This is likely due to the brain's attempt to compensate for the loss of muscle tone and balance by recruiting other muscle groups to support the body.

Sometime last year there was a guy in that position across the street from the shop I work out of. He has been there all morning, when I returned from lunch the police had setup a white tent. He died in that position. There was a younger girl standing there crying and I ask if she was ok. She responded that's my father, I did my best to comfort her and asked if she wanted a hug and she did. How can you die in that position and not fall over?

Of course the democrat run cities that allow this self destructive behavior of the obviously mentally ill addicts to persist is to continue to reap the billions that are made off the misery & death. There are lots of problems in this world, but to allow this inhumane non treatment to continue is inexcusable. Hell, though no surprise- if you can be convinced to accept unfettered, no limit abortion as the main, go-to policy in the political debates when losing all other debate issues, well we’re near the bottom of that slippery slope.

It's the fentanyl. It's basically just like when you're slipping into sleep but are still not quite completely asleep yet, like when you're already dreaming but if someone starts talking to you it still filters through and becomes part of the dream or maybe brings you back to wakefulness.

The reason they're all bent over is like when you see someone falling asleep sitting up and their head is all droopy but their body hasn't completely toppled over. They're in a halfway state where some muscles have let go and relaxed but other's haven't.

Progressives gave up the moral high ground on race when they started attacking "whiteness". The progressive-Left wants to complete the tearing down of Western Civilization; the populist-Right wants to restore it. It's not about race.

It is college-educated women (with mostly useless majors) leading the charge against their own civilization. This is bonkers. Ladies, under Natural Law (that's what Western Civilization is) you have equal rights and dignity with men and equal protection under the law. That's Thomas Aquinas and John Locke: a world of individual rights. Take Natural Law away though, and you fall back to Jungle Law. That's Machiavelli and Nietzsche: a world of raw power. Most non-college women realize instinctively that a jungle law world is very bad for them; it takes 4 years of college (un)education to forget something that basic. Orwell: "Some ideas are so stupid only an intellectual can believe them."

"This level of elite disconnection is dangerous and unsustainable." Unfortunately, it can be sustained for a very long time. As Adam Smith said, "there's a lot of ruin in a nation". Our elites think they create reality, and in their own bubbles, it's pretty much true. When you live in a gated community or a condo tower with a doorman and get all your stuff delivered from Amazon, open air drug markets on urban streets may as well not exist. For the laptop class, that's reality. And the laptop class runs the show.
