“Gavin Newsom is some clothes with a bag of skin and fluids inside them, a thing of no substance at all. He’s a breast implant with a mouth.”

“It’s like we’re governed by really nasty and hateful jars of paste.”

🤣🤣🤣

I know I’ve mentioned this before, but you are rivaling Charlie Brooker’s “people-shaped things” epithet.

P.S. I bloody love Gideon van Meijeren and featured that searing clip in this piece:

I always love "people-shaped things," and I always forget to work in a reference to it. It's great.

I've watched various podcasts with Gideon van Meijeren (all in Dutch, alas) and he is an exceptionally smart, well-informed, modest, and above thoughtful person. One listens to him and thinks: why do we not have more politicians like this? He and his party remain a small minority, shut out, probably permanently, from access to the real levers of power, but nonetheless I take comfort that he and his comrades do exist and give voice to those of us deeply skeptical of our current predicament and trajectory. As bad as the situation is, at least we have recourse to a small measure of principled opposition. Also, GvM and his party are resolute Nexiteers; abandoning the sinking ship that is the EU is our only salvation.

MAA, you pick exactly the lines that just cracked me up, so I won’t repeat them, although I kind of want to LMAO!!🤣🤣🤣

Democrats/liberals are going to rue the day they injected themselves with the Crit Theory brain virus.

I get it, it feels so good at first to be blissed out on gnostic wisdom, to learn a few new magic words and phrases that promise to catalpult you to the top of Mt. Morality, to be born again in the same ideology as all those cool bluehaired kids, to learn that if you just constantly proclaim your love of the marginalized and hatred of the Nazi fascist bigots all doors will open and a heavenly light shall shine down upon you.

But, as we can see, a few years pass and what once seemed like a cool new worldview becomes rigid prison bars inside your brain that make it impossible to think or speak clearly, to do anything but spout stale slogans and throw infantile tantrums at the first sign of disagreement, and worst of all: the words coming out of your mouth that strike you as so brilliant and edgy only sound like deranged gibberish to anyone outside your cult.

Tell ME how this ends! Our entire ruling class has overdosed on a toxic brain poison that turns them into malevolent crackheads, and it's only getting worse.

Only Thermidor can save us now...

"...rigid prison bars inside your brain"

Dear God yes. I sometimes wonder if they have the self-knowledge to see any of it.

Expand full comment

u can either be a religious fundamentalist or u can have self-knowledge, but u cant have both!

(but really from my perch in the Blue Bubble, every member of our liberal-arts culture class just considers their beliefs as proper etiquette, something all the Good people believe and that only creepy bigots question or doubt. They are really the social and intellectual equivalent of those snobbish old church ladies that Wilde skewers in his plays.)

I find self examination to be impossible for anyone with elitist attitude. They aren’t so much entitled as endowed. And that creates the reality issues that leave the useless eaters baffled.

The sopoforic dullness of these empty suits is an affectation, so common within the managerial class that it defines them. It's a form of camouflage. By lulling everyone who hears them into a baffled, vaguely irritated sleep, they move their agendas forward while minimizing the resistance they'd encounter if they were more direct about their goals.

Similar thing when they tell stupid lies or just play dumb in response to questions that have obvious answers they everyone knows. Is it infuriating? Sure. Does everyone know they're lying? Yep. Can anyone do anything about it, at least before they move the ball forward in the space opened by their refusal to engage? Not so long as there are no alternatives, and since the entire managerial class is in on it - there aren't.

This shit will continue until tarring and feathering becomes a thing again. So long as the arena remains purely linguistic/symbolic, we're fighting on their home turf, and trying to wrestle with smoke and squid ink. But these zombies are not accustomed to physical confrontation - when that starts, they'll fold like the soggy cardboard they're made of.

As writer Jim Gavin said,"... suffering brings a greater appreciation for what makes life meaningful and beautiful. And I think, especially with young men, you meet people in life who you can tell they've never been punched in the face. And if they just got punched in the face, they might actually be a full person at some point. And so in a larger sense, dealing with loss, some suffering, is the thing that's going to make you whole on some level. There will always be pain. But it is that thing that's going to define you. It's going to be the crucible through which you might become the person you're meant to be."

Empty vessels like Newsom, Garcetti and Wheeler are long overdue for a punch in the face.

So I'm not the only one to notice that the managerial class is overwhelmed by backpfeifengesicht. And I don't just say that because I approve of violence against my enemies. In their case, it would be character-building.

Great take on the human tripe that passes for political leadership in the West today. You are a true artist with your descriptions: "There's an emptiness to them that's universal and unvarying, like someone is programming different facial features onto a single governing hologram. There's nothing there. They're authoritarians, they're profoundly destructive, and they're so dull you can barely keep your eyes open to look at them." Absolutely brilliant wording! Reading your articles, I am routinely reminded of that line from Alexander Pope: "What has oft been said, but never so well expressed."

I can't add to this.

Rutte is blaming the farmers' protest on, get this, an obscure faction of the trucker's convoy in Canada called Diagalon. Few of us ever heard of them. They're almost mystical.

These people in power are empty-headed, predictable windbags with kernels of corn wedged into their brains like shit.

The problem is they're indeed dangerous and destructive.

And they're not loyal to their countries.

Expand full comment

As someone who lives in the Netherlands, I find it profoundly shocking to see an ostensibly "moderate" figure like Rutte pushing an agenda which is so self-destructive. He and his ilk have absolutely no conception of the long-term interests of the country. These people are vandals, pure and simple.

Diagalon is an invention of the imagination created by a veteran from my Province, created to confuse and misdirect the police during the Canadian Trucker Convoy. He would repeatedly call in to the police and journalists to feed them "information" of this sleeper cell known as Diagalon, some mystical force of insurrectionists who want to create a diagonal Country comprised of the territory between Alaska, Canada, and Florida, sending them on some wild goose chase. Its honestly quite comical.

Gideon van Meijeren is one a tiny handful of parliamentarians in the Netherlands who functions as true opposition. Not surprisingly he and his Party, Forum for Democracy, are relentlessly demonized as nutcases, extremists, even crypto-fascists, naturally by idiots waving Ukrainian flags. Mark Rutte is a piece of work, and I think it is wrong to characterize him as simply yet another WEF-marionette; it's a bit more complex than that. I've just put up this commentary on my Substack: https://cbrace.substack.com/p/who-is-mark-rutte

I’ll never look at Smarmy Newsom the same. 😂

Newsom is indeed a gasbag, but the reason he thinks he can take the Democratic Party's nomination is fairly simple: he seems like a normal, masculine adult white male in demeanor and presentation. Such are in short supply in his party. Almost every Democratic party male seems slightly off by traditional standards. Newsom, however, resembles Mitt Romney. He looks polished, confident, relaxed, masculine and normal. He looks at least superficially like a good boss. He also looks rich, private schooly, never-had-a-problem-in-my-life, etc. So for the Democrats, he is an ideal compromise. He mouths the Woke line (and probably believes half of it) in every respect, and was willing to destroy California's entire economy if necessary to "flatten the curve," but he looks like a traditional male.
