We here in Brasil are offended that America would steal our idea of putting a favela under some highway infrastructure and setting it on fire.

Exactly.

The reason they do that is they want you to believe that not saying what you believe is the safer option - or worse to say what you don't believe.

In reality it is a binary decision.

Those two options are one and the same; to exhaust your critical thinking.

We choose between whether you're able to think when it's CRITICAL, or not.

That's the choice they prefer was not recognized.

"Apart from the massacres, deaths and famines for which communism was responsible, the worst thing about the system was the official lying: that is to say the lying in which everyone was forced to take part, by repetition, assent or failure to contradict. I came to the conclusion that the purpose of propaganda in communist countries was not to persuade, much less to inform, but to humiliate and emasculate. In this sense, the less true it was, the less it corresponded in any way to reality, the better; the more it contradicted the experience of the persons to whom it was directed, the more docile, self-despising for their failure to protest, and impotent they became."

- Theodore Dalrymple

Congratulation on another masterful piece satirizing the irony of our current situation. And on top of the events you described, we've now learned through some official pronouncement, that the blame is firmly affixed to an unknown arsonist. Yes, that's it, it was arson. Our elected officials have now officially absolved themselves of any responsibility, forgetting that if they had faithfully performed their responsibilities, there would have been no combustible materials under a freeway. They conveniently omit that part, even citing that the storage of flammable sanitizer was stored there illegally, and the lessee of that space (yes, CalTrans leases the space under the freeway) was in default of the lease, and it was an illegal sublet. That entire chain of events is not the responsibility of any elected official to monitor or enforce infractions thereof.

OMG. My morning dose of humor had to wait until this afternoon.

Wasn’t Kamel Toes claim to fame twofold. She put those dastardly cannibas dealers and users in prison for years, 95% black, so the heroin and cocaine dealers had the market to themselves. And then there was something about Willie. Or a Willie. Now what was that.

Did Harris go after anybody except crisis pregnancy centers that didn't want to hand out directions to abortion clinics? That's the only thing I remember her doing.

I remember Kamala Harris as a DA about as much as I notice Kamala Harris as a VP.

Expand full comment

That’s not fair, she has so many more opportunities to stick her foot in her mouth as VP- and she does, regularly.

I know for a fact she did NOT go after any of the banksters stealing millions of families' homes in the foreclosure crisis. I know she had 5 huge lawsuits on her desk about the fraud. She did absolutely nothing with them. Her reward? VP.

You'd think in CA they'd have better acting coaches. Newsom, in particular, needs a tune up of his chops. Sure, he has the hair, looks, and greasy personality of a Batman villain, but is his brand of evil believable to a wide audience? So far his on-screen toughness comes across as mere vanity and vacuity, as does that of his WEF mate Justin 'I'm not a Castro' Trudeau.

CA and the world deserve a better class of villain. More finger pointing! That's what gets you to the top.

I don't know about you guys, but Newsom is lodged firmly in the Uncanny Valley for me. He looks like he came out of some black-market Bangladeshi android factory. He looks like someone took the action figure version Christian Bale from "American Psycho" and melted him in the fire a little bit.

If you could find his original packing, it would say "Generic Politician with Real Artificial Smile-Product."

He looks like he was banned from the Las Vegas Used Car Dealer Association because customers assumed he was about to slit their throats and wear their skins.

Yes. His facial expressions are...off.

I heard somewhere, but I don't know if it's true, that Christian Bale's Patrick Bateman was heavily inspired by Gavin Newsom.

Wow. The quality of the actors you Californians have cosplaying as your public officials has really dropped off since the days of the Arnold Governator. You've gone from top A-list stars to wannabes who couldn't hack it as extras in an infomercial. Sad.

What I saw on the press conference are vain and preening failed leaders of intentionally disastrously failed peoples and localities. Their ineptitude equaled by the smug vanity.

My take is that this very obvious failure is precisely the point.

This complete demolition will be the excuse to centralize the country under Washington DC and for the public private partnerships so often currently spoken of to become more private public partnerships. In other words, the people calling the shots from behind the curtain will swoop in as brave rescuers to the problems they have encouraged and sponsored that have created the chaos in American cities.

Expand full comment

They're saying that they don't have to demolish and rebuild the freeway section, and the repairs will take 3-5 weeks.

Expand full comment

That’s hard to believe. The structural integrity sure appears to be compromised. These days, I don’t even ever see a simple two lane country road repaved in that amount of time. Time will tell.

I meant big picture demolition, not the road.

Love the way "Woke" LA Mayor Bass gets angry when the homeless are made a potential source of the pallet fire....pure Soros-speak....the pics of the highway support columns are scary, indeed....the way the Commies are demonizing mobility, I wouldn't be surprised if this fire was an inside job...the obvious stacking of fuel under the freeway and the homeless right next to it is very suspicious

Now see I have a different take on Kamala Harris... when her hand is up and her finger pointing, I'm pretty sure she's checking out that fingernail, perfectly manicured and sculpted, with 9 more looking Just.
