Jonah Goldberg is very angry that other people are very angry. The raid — sorry, the sensitive visit by FBI agents to Donald Trump’s home is just fine, and you idiots all need to stop yammering about how bad it is. “Taken seriously, all of this banana republic talk is un-American,” he declares. It divides people to speak this way. It turns people against their government. It’s provocative and aggressive and disrespectful, and that’s wrong:
I don’t know for sure which politicians and pundits yammering about our “corrupt regime” are truly ignorant and which are merely duplicitous demagogues chumming the waters with bloody nonsense. But I do know it’s dangerous, because whether they believe it or not, they want millions of people to believe it.
Stop chumming the waters! Stop speaking about our constitutional order and the people you oppose in politics with loaded, aggressive language, because that’s demagoguery!
In other news, Jonah Goldberg is the author of this book:
So take it from Jonah Goldberg: Stop saying that the behavior of the Biden-era FBI and DOJ is comparable to what you would see in a banana republic, because that’s an irresponsible way of speaking. Take it down a notch, and make the gentler comparison of saying they’re exactly like Mussolini and Hitler. And be sure to thank Jonah for his gentle wisdom.
Telling people to not think a certain way that you do not approve of is "un-American".
Ah, Jonah Goldberg. Reason #89 of why I stopped reading and paying for National Review.
You wouldn't believe the beating I got at every turn when I spoke out about COVID authoritarianism. Honestly, I don't even understand who those people are.
