Those Confederate cannon were know as LINCOLN´s LOGS, which then became a toy set back in the 1960´s, which then became a running joke with 3rd graders: "You wanna play with Lincoln´s log? Hahahaha!" We were idiots but we had fun.

In 2024, let's please stop calling "Ibram X Kendi" by that ridiculous stage name, and go back to calling him by his real name, Henry Rogers.

He is supposedly an academic, so he should have no need of a 'stage name' (unless we are admitting that his entire academic genre is in fact, a sort of lucrative performance art)...?

Anyway, I don't know why we keep pandering to these grifters by giving them our willing participation in their Wakanda-LARPing, and grievance-farming.

Let's just not. Henry Rogers from now on.

I am rescinding my participation in Henry's narcissist gambit!

Glenn Loury & John McWhorter have discussed Rogers several times since his mismanagement/theft of the $40M came to light. McWhorter makes the point that Rogers does not claim to be an “academic;” that he readily admits he’s an activist. Loury, OTOH, is properly brutal on “Kendi.” They wind up agreeing that the REAL villain is Boston Univ for hiring an activist for an academic position. (Apparently Loury was ACTUALLY doing racial statistical analysis 20 yrs ago (the work for which “Kendi” was hired by BU), but it never received acclamation b/c it’s dull & revealed constant racial progress. A bomb-thrower is MUCH more marketable by a univ.

Example: https://youtu.be/-q5XxrQPPEI

Expand full comment

Exactly. And why is his act even still around? Isn’t Boston University investigating their huge mistake in giving this person a huge amount of money to produce literally nothing? What happened to that story? Another fraud who should be boo-ed off the stage.

BU didn’t fund Rogers out of its own funds; it was directed external donations. Doesn’t change their oversight responsibility, but it certainly affected their “skin in the game” response.

There seems to be a developing trend of vacuous female descendants of rich black Caribbean families being chosen for leadership roles in America at which they fail spectacularly in the glare of the public eye…

Notably, Condoleezza Rice is not part of this trend if for no other reason than she has no Caribbean connection: 51% African, 40% European, and 9% Asian or Native American genetic descent, while her mtDNA is traced back to the Tikar people of Cameroon. (Since plagiarism is “in,” I WON’T give Wikipedia credit for those #’s…)

Expand full comment

Who are some of these other vacuous females?

Are you including Kamala who has a Jamaican father?

Which reminds me of one other fake: fake holidays (Kwanzaa, and more recently, Juneteenth)

Expand full comment

I was thinking of Kamala & Gay. But if we move away from the Caribbean criterion, there’s a horde of black female contenders for membership in the “Order of Vacuity.”

Marylin Mosby Brown, convicted felon, shortly going on trial on further felony charges.

Lori Lightfoot, Sheila Jackson-Lee, Maxine Waters, Stacey Abrams, Nikole Hannah-Jones, Patrisse Cullors, London Breed

If we relax the “black” criterion, we can add Sheng Thao and Michelle Wu, mayors of Oakland and Boston.

Juneteenth has been a holiday in Texas for many decades b/c it was truly then that the last slaves were freed. While I never cared for it during my 30 yrs in Houston b/c its theme was always “blackness” rather than “freedom from bondage,” I also recognized that my ancestors were never slaves. The adoption of it nationally has stuck me as nothing but pandering. I would be more amenable if the holiday jointly celebrated the sacrifice of the 360,000 Union soldiers who died to make them free.

From the 5th verse of the Battle Hymn of the Republic:

“As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free”

I think Juneteenth holiday is pretty decent. Here in Seattle it had a yearly celebration at our "Seattle Center" featuring great music, good food, etc.

If it makes black people feel included that seems a good to me.

Expand full comment

I understand “inclusion.” Anyone who’s started a new job remembers the 1st invitation to join a group for lunch.

What I don’t understand is why Juneteenth is celebrated in non-slave states: California, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana & Ohio, as well as the Washington, Oregon, Nebraska, Kansas Territories. No one was ever a slave in those places.

All the other states & territories, including ALL of the 13 colonies permitted slavery during their history. (Delaware REJECTED the 13th Amendment in 1865, and did not formally adopt it until 2001. Hey, Joe – seems like you’re on shaky ground to talk about “back in chains.”) Interestingly, slavery didn’t end on Juneteenth. It legally RESUMED on Juneteenth, insofar as the Emancipation Proclamation was a wartime measure that ended with the war – which was declared over on June 19, 1865 in Galveston. It was not until December 6, 1865 when Georgia ratified the 13th Amendment (satisfying the 3/4 requirement) that slaves were legally free. (Mississippi was the final state in 2013.) Seems to me 12/6/1865 would be the better holiday, IMHO, but again, not in places where slavery never existed.

All white people were slave owners. Says so in 1619.

Here Claudine, let me fix that for you. I know you have trouble formulating your own thoughts in your own words, so here’s my suggestion, which you are free to plagiarize:

“This was merely a single skirmish in a broader war to expose the extensive rot and corruption metastasizing within fallen pillars of American society. Campaigns of this kind often start with attacks on institutions purporting to advance education and expertise, because these are the institutions best equipped to propagandize communities. But such campaigns don’t end there. Corrupt institutions of all types — from public health agencies to news organizations — will continue to fall victim to dogged efforts by independent journalists and experts to undermine their totalitarian propaganda and expose their leaders’ lies. For the truth-seekers and freedom fighters revealing the truth about our institutions, no single victory or toppled leader exhausts their zeal.

They will continue in this quest until the last fraudsters and totalitarians are purged, and until God, truth, liberty, and justice once again become the cornerstones of American society. May they emerge victorious!”

the reason gay's toothless attempt at a parting salvo sounds exactly like the bullshit we’ve been reading for years is because it was probably written by the same people who brought us the "pandemic." even as the door catches her on her way out, gay can't resist the urge to plagiarize. this is so scripted: public health agencies and news organizations are the two institutions most crucial to the cabal who want to bring us the great reset.

in november 2020 somebody left a copy of the sunday ny times in the vestibule of my old building. i hadn't read the times in a long time and i took it, curious to see what propaganda they were putting out.

what struck me as most odd is that every single article, from the sports section to the recipes, the business page and the wedding announcements, contained the word "pandemic."

This whole thing is baffling to me! When I was in college you got expelled for plagiarizing the way this twit did. If you wanted to continue with college, you couldn't go back to that one. They wouldn't take you back! There was the guy who had his dorm room inspected within an inch of its life. They found a few pot seeds. He was expelled. If he went to college again, it wasn't at that one. They would never have taken him back!

This woman makes $900,000/year and she cheats? No shame whatsoever, obviously. If she's embarrassed at all it's only because she got caught. She *was* caught and then tried to turn it into racism? That kind of crap drives people into being racists due to the double standard!! Special treatment for cheaters/liars? What's wrong with this picture. Of course they aren't exactly letting the actual smart kids into that school or into any that were once considered to be good schools. The mostly Asian kids with nearly perfect test scores on their SATs or ACTs were not allowed in because they were 1) too much smarter than the other people and 2) they were the wrong color! It would be interesting to know how her schooling was paid. I'll bet she got a full scholarship.

The cheating just amazes me! Why would you want a grade you didn't earn? Easy in the short-term means difficult in the long-term. Like cheating for the quizzes and then knowing nothing when you take the final. This was back in the 60s and I was nine, but I knew Columbus did NOT discover America!! I refused to say that and it hurt my grade more than once. After cheating on a test the one time I realized I'd rather take the bad grade. I always told my mom sooner or later when I did something wrong so I didn't get away with much. Bad is bad. You shouldn't be rewarded for being bad by "running" an Ivy League university!

Serious question. Why are academics paid $900,000 a year? Her interim replacement makes a similar salary plus millions have been banked with pharma board appointments and consulting gigs. To answer my own question- these people are not really academics in the classical sense. It’s a hybridized corporate-academic- political gig. And that’s why it’s so lucrative. They advance political agendas. They teach whatever crap they teach, and they provide intellectual capital on a consulting basis for large corporations. This also explains why the relationships between government, academia, and corporate America are all so cozy. It’s one big club, and you ain’t in it, as were.

I have never figured out how they could be making that much money teaching! I thought that could only be possible in the University of CA because they were always so vastly overpaid. The idea of running up student loans when I couldn't stick with a major for more than two semesters was like a sign from the universe. Critical theory, of which CRT is an offshoot, was promulgated by a group of German academics (socialists), who immigrated to the US in 1946. They came to be known as the Frankfurt School. Critical theory holds that all of Western civilization is utterly decadent, and no improvement is possible. The only path forward is to tear down all aspects of existing Western civilization and rebuild from the ground up, under their tutelage, of course.

How American (and western European) students and young people generally have been brainwashed by this obvious bullshit is baffling. I do not understand how you can look at history from ancient Greece to today, and not see incomprehensibly huge improvement in the human condition through improvements in how societies function. English common law, respect for property rights, and capitalism have lifted BILLIONS out of abject poverty. (Forgive me for preaching to the choir.)

There was another asshole involved in this debacle – also a post-WWII German immigrant & academic – Herbert Marcuse, who is the source of the oppressor/oppressed paradigm. Our young people have been deluged with “All whites are racist oppressors and all others are their victims” plus the “tear society down” mantra for the better part of 60 years, and the Floyd riots (and Claudine Gay at Harvard) are the result.
