Yeah, well I read the chocolate ration is being increased from 5 grams to 3 grams and that is double plus good.

Back in the early 80's I started to read Friday by Robert Heinlein. When he was writing about the craziness of the "California Confederacy" wherein the governor wore a native headdress, and they passed laws such as one granting all 18 year-olds a bachelor's degree to address the disparity in salaries of those who graduated college and those who didn't. Foolishly I dismissed it as silly and never finished it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/11jHyqH9agXKwrlGzUfqTs5PncjHleSDz/view?usp=sharing

Ah gun laws. A big reason for me to love Alabama. It's a love-hate relationship, very complicated. For instance, I can't buy a lottery ticket here. Yet, I just came home from the gun shop where I popped in on a whim after work today. An hour later I walked out with a brand new 6.5mm Creedmoor rifle with a real nice piece of glass mounted on top and wrapped in a new gun bag. Complete impulse purchase.

Expand full comment

Be careful -- that gun will start shooting people all by itself, for no reason, all of a sudden!

What's with the lottery thing? Kind of surprising.

Expand full comment

Tennessee does a bang up business selling lottery tickets to Alabamans. Gas stations just across the border have picnic tables set up so they can sit down and scratch them off.

Expand full comment

But how do the guys from Bama know which side to scratch?

Expand full comment

And that’s particularly remarkable given the Creedmoor is a single shot! The libs will start warning about “automatic muskets.”

Expand full comment

George Washington wished his musket could reach out to 1000 yards! Definitely would have changed things up a bit

Expand full comment

Yeah, lottery. It's funny you know, they can dream up, author, debate, pass, and have a gas tax hike become law over the course of Spring Break when no one is paying attention, but in the 12 years I've lived here they haven't been able to figure out the language to put a lottery on a ballot measure. Total corruption.

Yeah, so in my blue state, you take a class to qualify to own a gun, you then file paperwork to be approved to buy one, you then file an application to buy one, you then buy it, and then you wait 7 days to pick it up. Only one every 30 days. Law was thrown out by federal appeals court panel -- that pesky 2A! -- so naturally the state appeals to the full court next. Meanwhile, guns crimes by, well, crooks continue to mount.

Here is how it ends Chris: It ends when "elections" become elections. The good citizens will restore sanity via the vote once their votes are honestly collected and counted. Laments will not get the job done.

"once their votes are honestly collected and counted"

I'm not holding my breath! Given my age, its highly improbable that I will live long enough to see that happen.

Expand full comment

That’s at least 2 of us.

Expand full comment

Klaus says we don’t need elections. They have predictive programming now so they already know how we are going to vote so we can dispense with those historical relics.

Expand full comment

Not much else really matters until then, right?

Expand full comment

Exactly. Our political leaders and those who make their living studying and analyzing political strengths and shifting political fortunes steadfastly refuse to confront the only political issue that matters. By and large election administrations in "Blue" states have become an all pervasive criminal enterprise that insures the Uni-party always "wins" when the result determines who controls the next "election."

They’re gonna need more guns

It really is a mantra. I was talking to someone today about some other crap Sacramento is pulling with taxes. Small stuff for sure, but there is zero awareness out there. Unemployment tax rate employees pay on their paycheck will increase and now there's no cap on income starting 1/1/24. I certainly didn't vote for that. Guess they paid out a little too much to the fraudsters the last couple of years. And there's the reveal of the study for mandatory long term care insurance early next year, which I'm sure will turn into a bill that they will try to pass next year, similar to one they did in Washington state (only better, since California wasn't "first in the nation" with this one). Crappy insurance coverage and more taxes for employees and employers, probably. And don't even get me started on gun control. Let's just make it impossible for the law abiding citizens to defend themselves while the criminals do criminal things. By the way, great old clip of Gavin - he really looks like Christian Bale in American Psycho.

Yup, that 10 percent raise on tax was hidden for sure but at least Joe and Kamilah fixed inflation so that should even things out a bit!

Gavin’s new gas price czar will also soon get to the of Big Oil charging unfair prices!

I can’t escape this place soon enough. Unfortunately I probably still have a few years left here due to the commitments of elderly relatives, elderly pets, and a liberal son who can’t seem to grasp the concepts of adulthood and personal responsibility. To me California is like living in a snow globe of an idyllic beach (or any type of region, technically we have it all - mountains, deserts, etc.). Point being that it’s mostly great if I’m just sitting at home and enjoying my backyard. Doesn’t take much for some stupid influence (Newsom, 💩 schools, taxes, homeless people robbing others and starting fires, garbage, traffic, LGBTQ groomers, etc.) to shake up my tranquility and f*ck everything up.

Open the border to Third World Nations, become one yourself.

And being swedish, don't I just know it.

It really is akin to keeping chickens, it is, this thing with nation states. You want the maximum amount of eggs and poultry fit for the axe for the minimum of effort, yes?

So you don't let rats, foxes, martens, gulls, crows, buzzards et cetera get at your birds or their feed or the eggs, right?

Which means a good henhouse, a safe chicken run, clean coops and secure feedbins.

Just translate that into human, and that's that.

Expand full comment

Unfortunately, we seem to have it backwards.

We have put the "rats, foxes, martens, gulls, crows, buzzards et cetera" in charge of the henhouse.

Wow. I remember California in 1979. I was an 18 year old Aussie exchange student. I was based in Baja and lived in Mexicali, la otra vez fue Calexico, fue California. The border guards would see my passport and go "hi, you Ahhhzee", waving me through! 👋 Everything... and just about everyONE worked 💪 👷‍♂️. I met real men! Real, actual girls that liked "ahzees" 😉 Ahahahaha. Now, cartels on one side, gangbangers, foreign military aged "refugees" and vicious trannies lurk on t'other.

I'm so disappointed that the Office of Reparations will not be funded. Though I am not from California and do not live there, my mother was a San Francisco girl, so that makes me eligible, I think. I'm also not black, but I do get dark during the summer and I do identify as black, so I think I qualify because of that and my mother's residence.

Could you put in a good word for me with your good friend Gavin and send me my reparations, please? I only need a small amount, let's say, $100,000.00. That goes along way here in Texas.

Thanks for all you help!

A short story. My friends future son in law has just moved back to Redding, after living in the UK for 6 months. 6 months in a sleepy little north Yorkshire town famous for a certain type of scone, and a tea shop. On his first morning back home he went to get a new sim for his phone and....the store was robbed, at gunpoint, as he was making his purchase. "Don't worry, just let him take what he wants and don't make a fuss" he was told by the assistant. I am pretty certain he'll be back in the UK as soon as he can get another visa....I can't imagine living like that.
