As part of the settlements (plural), I'm going to insist that the liable parties have the text of the First Amendment tattooed on their asses.

Honest to God, these people presume to rule us.

The 1st Amendment enshrines Freedom of Speech....can’t wait for someone to challenge this stupid law in court sanctioned by King Newsom and his minions in the legislation who are in violation of the Constitution.

Los Gatos is an enclave where you will find many automated security gates and tall border walls to protect the Silicon Valley elite. Just envision maskless tyrants dining at the The French Laundry and you have your postcard. Peasants, like, vocals ones, definitely aren't welcome there, bruh.

My infinitely tedious crystal ball suggests that this steaming dung pile will go the 9th District were it will be, like, upheld and later to the Supreme Court where it will be, like, overturned.

Credit where credit is due, they are criminalizing free speech before our very eyes. No doubt anyone tagged by these rules will be forwarded to the FBI for observation. To ensure domestic tranquility of course. No deviation from the Narrative is allowed.

How terrifically tedious.

I've literally never once attended one of these things. I've watched a small number of them on video or YT. Correct me if I'm wrong, but "public comment" doesn't actually do anything, right? It's just people telling the board or council what they think of something, isn't it? If doesn't change the outcome of the vote, and it doesn't require the officials to answer any of the questions asked (at least any of the ones I've seen), right?

We are dealing with an epidemic of adults who never really grew up - they are adults chronologically but are childlike in every aspect of their behavior. Likely told from the minute they could understand words that the sun rises and sets on them, and they are never wrong. Listening to the school board member repeatedly interrupt citizens during public comments to tell them that 'you're done' 'you're gone' 'we're not going there' 'YOU'RE disruptive and have to leave' was really something to behold. You are all too sadly correct: we are not serious people. We live in one giant Romper Room. God help us!

Lovely article.

I disagree, *we* are serious people. Our middle management (also known as our "leaders") are not serious people. However, the people above them, the ones who really call the shots (no, not Joe Biden *or* Barack Obama but the ones whose asses they kiss) are *very* serious people. The *very* serious people use the not serious people to control the serious people with a bunch of shenanigans like this.

Our enemies have just devised an ingenious way to beat us in a war: No nukes, no EMP's, no bloodshed. Just call us nasty names. PS: Chris, "Romper Room"? You're dating yourself.

This reminds me of this exchange between Jackson and Goering at the Nuremberg Trials (from the book "Goering Cross-Examined").

Jackson The principles of the authoritarian government which you set up required, as I understand you, that there be tolerated no opposition by political parties which might defeat or obstruct the policy of the Nazi Party?

Goering You have understood this quite correctly. By that time we had lived long enough with opposition and we had had enough of it. Through opposition we had been completely ruined. It was now time to have done with it and to start building up.

Jackson After you came to power, you regarded it necessary, in order to maintain power, to suppress all opposition parties?

Goering We found it necessary not to permit any more opposition, yes.

Jackson And you also held it necessary that you should suppress all individual opposition lest it should develop into a party of opposition?

Goering Insofar as opposition seriously hampered our work of building up, this opposition of individual persons was, of course, not tolerated. Insofar as it was simply a matter of harmless talk, it was considered to be of no consequence.

Cheer up, it will get serious.

Then however awkwardly serious people will come forward.

See last article on Not A Nice Man for who that looks like.

Its not the problem.

It’s not your problem.

The freak show destroying civilization is the problem, your problem, our problem.

The pearl-clutching piece has a link to the video of that meeting. Seemed to me they shut down public comment quite effectively without this new law. Of course, no comments are allowed on the town's videos.

On a side note, I've noticed a sharp rise in tautology recently, as well as a boom in redundancy. They almost follow each other, one after another in endless succession. Like a global pandemic of tautology or something.

But isn’t the point of these ridiculous laws just to make it difficult for the citizenry? The government knows this won’t stand up in court. They are just daring somebody to sue them, because the process is cumbersome, expensive, and unpleasant. You might beat the rap, but you can’t beat the ride. And there is no down side for these legalistic terrorists who abuse the legislative process, but there needs to be. Big problem, at every level of government. Solutions?
