it’s a joke. in oakland, the last straw for me: the COVID emergency fund for single mothers that explicitly excluded white women.

FUCK THAT RACIST SHIT.

Will they be allowed to charge the Tesla’s between 4 pm and 9 pm or does the flex alert not apply to police?

I would say something glib. But, alas, all that comes to mind are streams and streams of the most profane profanities ever to be heard.

I’m in Commifornia as well. Have you seen New California? It’s suppose to become the 51st state, minus SF, LA, Sacramento, Sillycon Valley. For CA, that’s where ALL the problems are coming from. Us sane Californians want OUT! And no, we aren’t blue, we’re red. We always have been. That pesky cheating always gets in the way.

And believe me. cops don’t want to drives Teslas. “Sorry Captain, I was in hot pursuit of the rapist, kidnapper, serial killer...but my patrol unit died. I guess there was no juice left from the charge. My bad!”

Today I built a fire on the corner of my property and threw old batteries into it in between grilling steaks. We were going to pour gasoline on it at the end as a kind of closing ceremony but it's honestly still a little too expensive to waste on pageantry, for now.

It seems that you live in a community of people that refuse to grow up. Both the state and local governments appear to think that they are working on high school projects. Hey, it will look good on their college applications.

Last few years my operating plan is move to the second or third State that secedes from the Union. Good to have choices.

The rot is too deep here in CA. Providing power and water are bedrock functions of gov't but the virtue signallers cannot even do that right. Sheesh.

I have moments of despair that NY state (and especially NYC) is the worst and then I read about California and am humbled to realize we are in second place. For how long, if Hochul is re-elected and gets to live her totalitarian dream, is still uncertain. The competition continues.

This reminds me of a quote that's stayed w me from an interview w Simone de Beauvoir about all the political crusades she and her beau JP Sartre supported, which basically included any and every Leftist dictatorship and terrorist group, from Stalin to Mao to Castro etc.

When asked about their preference for "Revolutionary" ideas she said something like, "We're just not temperamentally suited to reform." (Meaning small practical steps to help people were not romantic or dramatic enough for the Left Bank radical philosophers.)

And this I think is where we've arrived at in the one-party Cali state, the Vatican City of Social Justice: not a single elected official in any capacity, from school board to mayor to legislator, has any interest in doing the actual hard work of helping people in a smart, sane and responsible way. It is more important for them to pose as radical and be seen playing their part in the great struggle to the Promised Land of DEI.

Governing is dull, democracy may mean talking to people who didnt go to the right schools (ewwww), but being a soldier in the Revolution provides glorious meaning and purpose.

But the results are always the same: a tremendous amount of social wreckage with the True Believers still fixing their gaze on the Utopia inside their heads, which certainly would have arrived if only it hadn't been sabotaged by their greatest enemy: Reality.

Watching the idiocracy in California self-immolate is one for the ages. Never have so many idiots been given so much and squandered it in such a grotesque manner.

Sadly, people get exactly what they vote for! If they elect incompetent, agenda driven, virtue signaling clowns, they get 2 million dollars worth of Teslas and potholes. They will continue to experience the consequences of the choices they make until they decide that streets without potholes are more important to them than a police force driving Teslas.

We need to copy Texas and limit our legislature to 140 days per year. Then they go home and to do something useful.

This insanity is why we left Malibu after almost two decades there. The local Maxfield’s—home to $500 t-shirts— was looted to the tune of more than $1MM by one of those smash-and-grab gangs right after we moved away. I was still on the neighborhood online chat forum at the time, and most of the posts were of the “what-the-hell-is-happening-this-can’t-happen-here-can-it?” variety. The one that stood out and, I think, perfectly encapsulates the lunacy at the core of California’s politics, was from a local who whined, “if everyone who is SO worried about a little shoplifting theft would spend as much effort worried about climate change—which is the REAL threat we’re facing—then we could actually get somewhere” or some such crap. A “little” shoplifting. It is Malibu, after all.

I can tell you that after living in small town New England for a few months now, the general consensus here is that anyone who still lives in L.A. or San Francisco is nuts. Having fled myself, I’m inclined to agree. I can’t wait to tell my neighbors about police in Teslas. What a hoot!
