Politics by the campfire sounds intoxicating, but it's too far from SC.
And the truth is, while I went camping at my late husband's favorite place the spring after he died, I gradually let go of all of the camping equipment. We had a lot.
Well a happy future birthday to you! You will now be leaving the 69 zone.
I could always camp at the other end of the property, if I felt the need to rough it. What we should really do is go off grid for a weekend, "just to see" because that would be a weird kind of camping-at-home :)
And I thought it was just me in East Tennessee daydreaming about an Oregon trip. We have a long and illustrious history of contrariness regarding the district of criminals down here.
I think we (I say “we” despite only living here 8 yrs + numerous vacations) have values in line with the Founders as expressed in the Declaration, the contemporary political pamphlets, the Constitution and the Federalist
papers. We have the weird idea that the best educated people of the time, after rigorous debate, actually expressed their deepest political beliefs with precision and in a timeless manner.
Dang! Sounds like a great time! As a fan of camping I heartily approve. As a resident of Massachusetts (-sigh-), I wave from 3,000 miles to the east. As Rikard said, "may the fish bite and weather hold".
Naw, the Ghost of Chris Farley would be most welcome. Actually a Friend of mine who plans to come is good friends of Rob Schneider, and I said "invite him!" who knows...
If you're already driving hundreds of miles to get to this campsite, Crater Lake is pretty close by, and adding a day to visit it would be relatively easy.
Looks like a great location! Pretty country with a variety of activities.
Maybe 30 years ago I went on an organized 3 day raft down the Rogue River, had a great time! Only chickened out from one stretch. Dunno if we went by Indian Mary Park.
I have rafted the Rouge dozens of times. We chose this area because it has good wilderness feel yet is moderately easy to get to. (I am open to considering a similar candidate further east next year)
I see the trip as 60% like-minded meet up, 25% camping, 10% rafting and 53% remedial math.
This is how societies are built, maintained, and persevere. A good time to all!
Being on the other side of the Atlantic (the ocean, not the rag) I can only say: "Here's to a good trip, may the fish bite and the weather hold!".

Likewise from the Tennessee Smokies. June 24 is my 70th, so I’ll lift a beer in the campers' honor.

As a "dork" voter, I demand a recount!!!
INSURRECTION
It was the mail-in ballots.

Stay away from any vans down by the river…
The ghost of Chris Farley.

Can you please, please do something like this later in the summer for people who live in the upper midwest,, like SOUTH DAKOTA?
This summer is shot -- I have a long list of stuff on the books already. But next summer is wide open, and I love South Dakota.
Enjoy!
"A decisive loss for “shut up, dork.”
YOU WILL RUE THE DAY, SIR.
RUE. THE. DAY.

It can be like a real life Where’s Waldo game to spot the FBI agent.
"No, really, I think we should kidnap Gretchen Whitmer."
That whole mess always makes me think of "The Ransom of Red Chief".
😅

Sounds awesome which I was coming. Perhaps we do the next one in New Zealand?! I can organise!
Thanks Chris,
I am the reader about whom Chris refers.

Starting a thread to answer questions here...
22% is still significant.
Oh, I've fully internalized it.
😆
Next time camp closer to Ottawa please.
Enjoy
