I have now saved you the trouble of reading the Daily Beast’s “coverage” of the legal conflict between Donald Trump and New York Attorney General Letitia James, which features “reporting” like this:
Trump’s legal team says Engoron is overstepping his authority, and they want an appellate judge to put him in his place. It’s the latest escalation against the trial court judge, who has increasingly grown tired of their delay antics.
This summer, a state appellate court ordered Engoron to figure out which real estate deals by the Trump Organization are too old for the AG to examine for potential bank and insurance fraud. The judge has yet to draw a cutoff, even though he is expected to do so in the coming days.
But Team Trump can’t wait, and they’re itching to use this as a method to push back the trial. When they requested a three-week delay, Engoron immediately shot that down.
He was itching to make there not be a trial, so he says for the appellate judge to put the trial court judge in his place, but then all that shit got like shot down. Are legitimate legal issues involved in these courtroom arguments, like maybe the judge failing to comply with an order from an appellate court? Reader, there are not. Bitches are all just doing smackdowns and shit. The court’s just all like tired of the defendant being all like what about my rights and shit!
Here’s the big finish, and here we turn to real darkness:
The goal of a lawsuit filed against Donald Trump is to take $250 million from his company and “tear up the enterprise’s business licenses,” which is apparently a legal maneuver of some kind, denying the Trump family its “profit machine.” To put that in what used to be English, the State of New York is trying to destroy the businesses Donald Trump built, forbidding them to operate and forcing his entire family into permanent insolvency. Attorney General Letitia James is waging scorched-earth economic warfare against a political enemy, using governmental power in an attempt to crush multiple generations of a family that disagreed with her about party politics. You can win an election, sure, but then your family starves, so.
The Frankfurt School political theorist Herbert Marcuse famously argued that tolerance is intolerant, because an open discourse permits the expression of right-wing speech, so a truly tolerant society would be repressive. Marcuse warned that “freedom (of opinion, of assembly, of speech) becomes an instrument for absolving servitude.” The alternative is a truly tolerant crushing of bad opinions: “Suppression of the regressive ones is a prerequisite for the strengthening of the progressive ones…. Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left. As to the scope of this tolerance and intolerance: ... it would extend to the stage of action as well as of discussion and propaganda, of deed as well as of word.”
We’re there. The Trump family must die in penury, because politics. It’s tolerant to repress them, without limit.
Meanwhile, Professor Michael “Hockey Stick” Mann explains, echoing Meathead, democracy can only exist in a single-party state:

All day, every day, you can read expressions of the view that Trump — a politician I’ve voted for and donated to, but regard with mixed feelings after his incredible handling of Covid, which was the best ever, believe me, everybody says so, his amazing vaccine saved millions of lives — must simply cease to exist. He must not be heard. He must not be interviewed. He must not be granted space in media. If he appears, he must not speak without being shouted into submission. His voice must be shackled and pulled down. Allowing him to speak is allowing indoctrination, so we must create a media space that has no indoctrination in it by silencing him in favor of the correct voices.
Donald Trump must experience repressive tolerance, so we can have an open discourse by closing our discourse. We must preserve our democracy by ending it, so we can have it. And Trump’s family has to be financially destroyed, to the third and fourth generation, so we can have fairness in America again.
When people tell you they embrace political eliminationism, believe them.
What drives our rabbinical caste mad is that we smelly benighted rubes still insist on doing our own thinking. We may have other values, anything from patriotism to just wanting the damn border closed, when they have already told us—repeatedly!—that these are the wrong values to have and are in fact dangerous, possibly evil and fascistic. They have read all the books and have all the right credentials and are the makers and wielders of all the new cutting-edge moral tests—why can't we just shut up and OBEY!?
Our liberal clerisy know everything except how arrogant they seem to the rest of us, and how so much of their vaunted "compassion" resembles contempt.
This was always the predictable result of weaponization of government. And they won't stop at Trump. A journalist documenting 1/6 was just found guilty on four misdemeanors today......
