I run with a group of former Soldiers every Saturday morning. Been doing it since COVID. We run with our dogs then go eat breakfast. It is great. Wives especially love it--over the years we've had guys text "not gonna make it", then showing up..."Wife told me to go run with the boys. She said I'm more pleasant to be around afterwards..." Funny.
Anyway, one of the guys who occasionally runs with us is under 30. Left the active Army as a 1LT, and was always complaining about how 'my boss wants me to be in the office every day...', his initial Army experience was during COVID, so he really enjoyed the 'work from home' shit.
He's a total lefty. Has gone to the 'no kings' protests. Thought it important to bring is young children...
Here's part of the problem as I see it. He was complaining to a group of retired field grades about how cruel and unusual his boss treated him because he expected him to be in the office everyday. (He was working a staff job, operations I think, at the time). While none of us responded with, "Look you little turd, STFU and show up. You're a Lieutenant. You know less than zero. Listen. Obey. Learn." We might ask some questions to try and lead him in the right direction, but he never got it.
Got out, was hired as a fire fighter. Was let go before his probation ended. Not a team player.
His attitude/behavior/expectations are exactly what elect Kate Wilson, Mandani, and either Scott Weiner (SERIOUSLLY?!?!?, similar to that artist McAnallly or McAsssCrack who went viral with his infant toy he and his lover boy bought from a woman...sometimes the name tells us everything we need to know...) or AOC's chief of staff.
When Wilson recently said, "Bye" to any millionaire leaving the state, the muddle-brained coeds in the room all clapped. They are begging for it.
It seems to be a bit of mass psychosis like we witnessed during COVID--but I think we are kidding ourselves by thinking this is unusual. Look around. The left is getting further and further unhinged (my thinking/framing of course)--but the way the young men and women think is totally foreign to me. I don't believe we truly understand it, and unless we do, we may be overwhelmed by it.
The polarization will only increase as the left goes further and further into insanity.
The LT's attitude, his apparent world view, is the very predictable result of his exposure to incessant, dawn to dusk propaganda - for his entire life.
And sadly, the same is true of many (most?) of his generation. When something breaks, they don't ask, "How do I fix it?" They say, "Gimme a new one". And often (usually?) they expect someone else to pay for it.
There are still people, lots of them, who know how to build things, fix things, and even, shudder, do without.
But there are many, far, far too many, who, like your lieutenant, seem unable to associate remuneration for work with the actually performance of that work.
So true. Has anyone else noticed that a disproportionate number of the tradesmen who come to your home to fix things seem to be 50+ years old? And have you ever talked to them about the young people they work with? It’s quite striking the extent to which the young people seem to expect everything to be provided for them (in the manner that parents classically provided for their children).
We seem to be on the second consecutive generation that has remained childlike (in a bad way) and has “failed to launch“. In a reversal of an old 80s song, “The future’s so dim, I gotta wear a headlamp.”
Both of my sons have trades based businesses. Both of them tell too waaay too many war stories about would-be apprentices who are totally unfamiliar with the concept of work. And who seem to expect to be paid for just showing up.
Sounds like you did a good job in raising your sons. Kudos to you, wish there were more parents like you. I'm in my 70s and was raised by parents who were born in 1920/1921, they both went through the Depression. They taught me good values when it came to work and I went to work in my dad's office when I was 12. Was there in summer every single day, worked 40 hrs a week and later after school plus every summer. I've been hired for jobs just because I did that and I'm very grateful my parents taught me good work ethics. I do NOT understand this attitude today where young people think they shouldn't have to work and their parents/grandparents should give them money and the home the parents/grandparents live in. Very sad IMHO.
Yes, and also I know a good number of young tradies in their 30s and 40s who are utterly frustrated with the difficulty of finding employees who realize they are hired to do a job, not collect pay and duck doing anything.

In my ag specialist days I regularly took calls from people in Chicago and Minneapolis and sometimes farther who had Just Bought A Little Farm In Wisconsin, and wanted to know if I could help them figure out what to grow.
The first half dozen or so times I was struck dumb by this, but later, with practice, developed a script.
So I would say, well, What To Grow depends on your situation, your soil type, your equipment, your intentions for seasonal versus year-round occupancy, your income intentions...but most of all, what work you like to do.
Their response was always, without exception, and I'm talking dozens and dozens of times at least, the same:
"???WORRRRRK???"
Then each and every one of them would ask if I could connect them up with Some Local Farmer Nearby Who'd Like To Work The Land for them.

> the young men and women think is totally foreign to me. I don't believe we truly understand it, and unless we do, we may be overwhelmed by it.
This may take some effort to spool out...but let's give it a go.
I and my darling watched many friends and colleagues raise children in that "soft discipline" mode popular in the late '80s, '90s, and '00s. Some did the "attachment parenting" thing as well. Common to these methods was the idea that the child's whims must be accommodated, that the parents were there to serve them, and make sure they experienced no distress in having their wills thwarted. The family revolved around the child. Bad manners, public meltdowns, defiance, wrecking of social situations--all was fine because the child is ALWAYS right.
Had neighbors whose kids were absolute demanding little tyrants. In the frequent moments of meltdown/rage on their part, instead of dad manning up and settling the issue to the adults' satisfaction, he'd say in a squishy sing-song tone exactly like his wife's, "We're going to have a Family Meeting about this later!" The kids would turn up the volume. More squish. More noise. More squish. The kids always got their way.
My experience with larval humans back to childhood (kids helping care for the smaller kids) taught that these meltdowns often originate in a need to have boundaries set. And indeed, these neighbor shrieklings would calm right down when darling or I handled them in our blunt way. "You have two choices here. You can scream and cry, and I'm leaving. Or you simmer down, control yourself, and we continue to do Thing X." Whammo, instant calm.
That behavior, enabled and left to run rampant for decades, produces developmentally disabled adults.
But there's more to it, and this is where it gets...harder.
That neighbor's kids are in their 30s now. Living with mom and dad. Next house over, two more boys, the same. Down the road a bit, another. They contribute nothing to household work, indoors or out. They contribute nothing to the neighborhood. Their parents continue to enable and support and coddle them.
The tantrum-throwers' mom said offhandedly to my darling a few years ago how theirs was "a multi-generational household." Darling--with usual bluntness--replied, "It doesn't qualify as multi-generational till the sons bring home wives and they reproduce. Till then it's kids still living at home." She said, angrily, "And I suppose YOU would just throw YOUR kids out of the house at 18, in the middle of Trump's nightmare economy!" Darling: "What kind of kids aren't raring to strike out on their own at 14, never mind 18?" (Both of us were working "under the table" side by side with adults at 13. When we came of household formation age, mortgages were at 15-18%.)
This is the same woman who, within months of moving in about 20 years ago, appeared in our driveway while I was rotating and counting hunting/archery camp canned goods (back then we offered up our garage for that storage).
She eyed the stacked cases of beans and such in silence...then said brightly, "WELL, it's good to know where to come for food if things get bad and Our Children need it!"
We had talked to her by then no more than threefour times.
This same woman in 2020 fretfully noted that "there were no canning jars to be had in the entire county." Normally I'd be the first to share with others. She had not seen my darling's collection of jars in the barn, mostly given to us by farmer friends, found at Grange or estate sales, or handed down. I had no incentive to do what I/we normally would have, and share them with her. I still feel bad about that. But while she was fretting about not having bought canning jars before needing them, she was "social distancing" from 20 feet away. "Her safer pandemic boundary," she noted tremulously. And went on to discuss how the governor needed to be more firm in making Conspiracy Theorist Anti Vaxxers get vaxxed So Everything Could Get Back To Normal.
So here's my punch line, Brian.
She and her offspring are soft parasites. They feel entitled to others' work, attention, and resources. "My wish is your command."
For, all that softness and niceness and sing-songy tones is in fact a mask for a sense of entitlement, promising future violence of which the NKVD would be proud.
She is the sort who will back armed agents of the state in seizing people's gardens and pantries if told that's necessary...just as she backed armed agents of the state during "covid."
These grasshoppers have no idea, the quiet contempt in which the ants/little red hens hold them, recognizing this spirit of entitlement and thievery, not being taken in by the soft mannerisms and tremulous tones and protestations of We're All In This Together.
When that neighbor reacted to beans in the garage as something she is entitled to a share of if she declares the situation to call for it, I didn't express my surprise (contempt wasn't yet in place) because...I was so surprised. It was so far outside my ability to comprehend anyone thinking that, never mind saying it. "What's yours is mine. Or can be. Or will be. Because I say so."
That was 20 years ago. I'm more blunt now. They're worse now. And people like Neville Roy Singham are watching from Chyna, looking for the stress points.
Well written. I could feel contempt (not something I’m proud of feeling about people) percolating up inside me. All animals are equal, some are just more equal than others…(won’t see the movie, I understand they ruined this as well). Have a great weekend. Thanks for the thoughtful reply.
They already have. California gov Gruesome is taxing everyone who leaves California. My friend's mom had to pay $1.2 MILLION just for leaving. She worked hard to build her business but husband was called to a job in another state. I remember reading about Gruesome making it a law in Calif - if you leave, you pay taxes for it.
I was there in 1977 when it was still very much communist. It felt very strange to be there, nothing worked right. People had to stand in lines for up to 4 hours just to buy a few groceries and there were no vegetables in any of the vegetable stalls. While there I had my appendix begin to rupture so had to spend 3 weeks in Soviet hospital in Moscow. It was a very, very interesting experience. I've known ever since then I NEVER want to live under communism.
I was at the Defense Language Institute for Basic Russian in 1991-1992. We were studying Russian when the Putch happened...we all thought, "Crap! Now do I need to learn Chinese? Arabic?"
All the instructors were native Russians, mostly Jewish (Yevray) expats. When we asked them what was most amazing to them here--they all said, "The ROADS!!!" Shawsay. I had expected grocery stores, but it was always the roads.
The said the Soviets would say, "Americans were born behind the wheel."
I didn't truly understand until I was stationed in Germany 92-95 and we drove into Poland/Czech Republic. "Potholes" were measured in 100s of meters. You'd high center your car trying to drive across Poland.
only people who got anywhere under communism were the black marketeers
and the cultural baggage is multi-generational. successive generations still recovering. GF of mine born behind the iron curtain grew up in the early yeltsin era but was just as damaged as her parents
Why doesn't someone sue the state about the stupid "leave California tax"? If they can afford to pay 1.2 million to leave, can they afford to fight the law? I'd be interested to see what the Supreme Court would conclude about this law.
I was thinking the same. Leave the state and get taxed? My answer would be, “Sue me!”
I heard Illinois was considering such a law. I don’t know if it went through. Illinois is otherwise a nice place but has lost to the communists in Chicago.
As far as work goes, the fear of being sued for anything allowed managers and bosses who used to run a tight ship have to defer to HR for anything. They allowed people like your friend to get away with acting like a baby and it’s damaged an entire generation of young people.
At my old job a bunch of entry level younger people were making a lot of noise and when someone with seniority asked them to be quiet because she was on the phone with a client, they were insulted and went to HR.
Of all the evils in this world, HR is pretty close to the top. HR in the corporate world, JAG in the military. Both led my women or low-T men who do not know the burden of leadership, only know how to neuter the command.
I know this practice from my days of having an OG social justice warrior on my staff. That woman would acid dip anyone who didn’t accept her lame world view. Thankfully this was back in the day when you could actually fire people who were destroying your company.
Likely said with the same hubristic aplomb the Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson just offered with her ‘bye’ then giggle response to millionaires leaving Seattle.
I worked with some very low-T but hyper-anal (likely redundant) officers who spent so much energy and time on ‘safety safety safety’ that they had forgotten we were in the killing business. Drove me to distraction. Of course, many of these impotents made Colonel.
“Low-T but hyper-anal” Perfect description of that category.
And, ironically, the safety obsession was also one the issues with the woman I mentioned. She could bring any project to a screeching full stop because someone had a hangnail. By the time we’d regressed to “we need a full staff meeting” because of hurt feelings, her days were numbered.
BN, I’ve come to believe it’s a hard wired congenital glitch. There is some developmental flaw in people who go all in woke lib. They are frozen at that horrible adolescent oppositional phase where they almost tell you out loud that they simply refuse to grow up and F-you if you expect them to take responsibility for anything.
That this yahoo has kids to take to no-kings goblin rallies is very troubling. Anyone who takes a child to a political demonstration is a self involved dip-shit preening for the off spring. But the endorphin rush must be worth looking so completely asinine. And, under some circumstances, putting the kid in danger.
When he texted that he wasn't going to run, instead taking his kids to a protest--I couldn't believe it. Initially I thought, "What freaking protest?!?!" The only people showing up are white boomers...so I was confused, then the light came on.
Check out yt show Disaffected by Josh Slocum. Josh explores how psychologically deranged American culture is and has been since a while, the whole phenomenon these people are different and you can’t understand them.
My ex was a Marine and a lot like this. This was wayyyyy back in time, when Bernie was Sanders was running in 2016, and my ex was all about him so im definitely not surprised to hear the current 30 year olds have this attitude.
Unfortunately, your experience with this individual in your running group is not at all isolated. It has become endemic. I’ve had more than my fair share of encounters with similarly entitled people who have neither been taught the value of hard work, nor experienced the rewards of same. This entitlement mentality includes a misconception that “respect” is owed to them. Earning it has never been a concept they’ve entertained.
I’ve reached the place where I no longer hold back on direct responses.
A wealthy businessman asked me to hire his son. Entry level. He was half supporting him, so $20 an hour was fine. We needed an assistant property manager, pretty low level job. We said sure. He lasted three months and quit. Couldn’t take the pressure and went back to Montreal to live with his Mom. He has a degree. He is clean cut, pleasant looking, speaks well, etc. Yet he can’t work!!
This is insane and scary at the same time. Where are all these Mamdani-wannabes coming from Chris? Manufactured on both east and west coasts - seemingly from deep socialist/Communist foreign rootstock. And to think - just in case this crazy dude doesn’t have enough appeal to win CD-11 Dem primary, we can count on good old home grown Scott Weiner to take his crazy-ass policies from Sacramento to the halls of the U.S. Congress.
Yes, how extremely odd is it that the opposite of what SHOULD be happening, in response to societal trouble, pain, and misery, is what is now actually happening? Is it that lefty colleges are spitting out the brainwashed in huge numbers without having taught them anything of worth? Just imagine ---- a destroying freak like Scott Wiener is the lesser of evils in this race.
It's that plus the fact that those who are really in charge select from among people like that, so they can push through policies that will harm the nation as a whole but benefit them. Anyone who thinks Nationalized [whatever] isn't going to benefit the mega-wealthy hasn't been paying attention.
They're coming from our education system, which has been pushing Critical Theory, overtly, since the 1990's. And Scott Weiner is a pedophile and should be locked in a small room for the rest of his natural days. He is beyond horrifying.
I don't know where they're coming from, but I do know that their trying to build a constituency that would line you up in a firing squad if you got between their 3 meals and 4 manacles.
This is getting hard to take … boxed wine Pelosi, I thought was out of control but these weirdo narcissists are on steroids , God help this country. Maybe a sage burning ritual would help . 🥺
AI firms, I guess. Communists in 1950s run into the problem that central planning is pretty tough, but they assured each other that in the future algorithms will be in charge of economy - and here we are
Saikat Chakrabarti has a net worth of at least $150 million, and probably closer to $200 million, while the person running as the most radical seize-the-wealth gubernatorial candidate in California is a literal multibillionaire. It's them. They're going to profit. Hugo Chavez nationalized the Venezuelan oil industry, and now his children are the wealthiest individuals in the country.
> Socialist revolution leader Hugo Chavez’s oldest daughter Maria Gabriela is rumoured to be Venezuela’s richest woman, with a personal fortune of more than 4 billion dollars, hidden in bank accounts [in] Europe
> Socialist revolution
> 4 billion dollars
I feel like if I don't laugh at that, something in my brain will herniate. But I can't laugh.
Reminds me of the Iranian gajillionaires with money stashed in London real estate etc., gotten from their little game of petrocontrol, piracy, and permawar.
Those "bank accounts [in] Europe"--is that, like, City of London Europe, or what?
AI firms, I guess. Communists in 1950s run into the problem that central planning is pretty tough, but they assured each other that in the future algorithms will be in charge of economy - and here we are
This is not “progressive policy.” This is communism with a fascist mustache and a government voucher stapled to its forehead. Housing by the state. Food by the state. Healthcare by the state. AI by the state. Energy by the state. Industry planned by the state. Nothing outside the state, nothing above the state, nothing against the state. And these clowns call Trump authoritarian? Spare me. Saikat Chakrabarti is not offering reform. He is offering a DMV with breadlines and climate sermons. California is the warning label for America: when Democrats say “democracy,” they increasingly mean state control of everything.
RL you nailed it. except that mussolini wannabe Chakrabarti's dystopia is even worse. it's the 15 minute prison the WEF and UN are so excited about, where you have to eat zee bugs and take zee jabs to get zee digital coupons
We have Biden’s HHS secretary running for governor here, and he brags at every opportunity how he gave 700 million covid shots, all for free. He’s rising in the polls so apparently covid is not a liability for Democrats.
If you watch the highlights of the CA Governor debates(watching live would result in head in oven with the gas on), one can’t help but notice that most of the Democrats are just stupid, literally unintelligent. Becerra leads the pack, with his cliches, non-response responses, no plans to fix anything. He was CA AG, and was Secretary of Health and Human Services during the Otto Pen Administration, and he accomplished nothing. He’s getting the Becerra Bump in the polls because the leftist’s preferred puppet , Swalwell, turned out to be a rape-o (allegedly), and I guess that was a bridge too far for some reason.
Oh I did watch the debate live, so much to say about it, most has already been said including by Chris. The most amazing part is that each D candidate wanted to solve all our problems, including the problem of affordability, by giving more free stuff to more people. It’s shameful that so many of our neighbors think that’s a great idea! Just tax the billionaires to pay for it.
For me it’s a traumatic deja vu to watch the Democrat machine try to clear the field for one candidate. The way they did for Biden. And Kamala. Swalwell was a handsome puppet, Becerra is so dumb he’ll be mugging at the photo ops while the unelected machine runs the state in the background. And of all people, this man, who was the face of the vaccine mandates. 😡😡
I believe Becerra was my representative in Congress way back, I can’t recall a single thing he did, though I likely wasn’t paying as much attention at the time.
It's in a cargo container at the port now. The van had to go deliver the puppies to orphans. But you'll like the nice shiny walls and the dentist's chair with wrist and ankle restraints.
Ok, you had me reading until the pic of Scott Oscar Myer Wiener. Please put a warning ⚠️ label before we stumble upon this type of x rated material unknowingly. 😂
Take a look at day care centers, autism treatment programs, emergency rental support, public school math & reading scores, ad infinitum in mn just for starters. And another personal favorite is road building, make that temporary hole filling.
Like the fellas on the Ruthless podcast say, there’s no such thing as a moderate Democrat. Assume all Democrats are communists now, and if they project themselves as moderate, they’re a Trojan Horse. Case in point: Abigail Spanberger in Virginia.
I’m not surprised a communist kook is running for office in a far-left CA district, but I am troubled that this guy believes he has enough support to run in the first place.
The fetishized Scott Weiner could very well win. God help us.
So much good stuff, and yet, that picture of Scott Weiner takes the proverbial cake: who would want to fuck that guy?! He looks like a piece of Portuguese bacalhau, the salted and dried codfish.
All those green and purple-haired people must have brain damage from their hair dye - it's the only think I can think of that would make people so deranged as to vote for "Mr. Weiner".

Darling: "What kind of kids aren't raring to strike out on their own at 14, never mind 18?" (Both of us were working "under the table" side by side with adults at 13.

Thanks for the chance to vent it, and the grace in receiving it.
"They are begging for it."
Then, like Hochul, they'll be begging them to come back, with their money.
Or passing asinine, unenforceable laws to prohibit them leaving!
They already have. California gov Gruesome is taxing everyone who leaves California. My friend's mom had to pay $1.2 MILLION just for leaving. She worked hard to build her business but husband was called to a job in another state. I remember reading about Gruesome making it a law in Calif - if you leave, you pay taxes for it.
soviet union also had a steep departure tax. called a bribe
God Bless America!

EG glad you made it out alive
only people who got anywhere under communism were the black marketeers
and the cultural baggage is multi-generational. successive generations still recovering.
Only unenforceable until the Dems take the executive back.
then they'll build the walls to keep them in.
It’s not unusual.
Both led my women or low-T men who do not know the burden of leadership, only know how to neuter the command.
bsn
“…neuter the command” says it all. Ugh.
Of course, many of these impotents made Colonel.
bsn
“Low-T but hyper-anal” Perfect description of that category.
And, ironically, the safety obsession was also one the issues with the woman I mentioned. She could bring any project to a screeching full stop because someone had a hangnail. By the time we’d regressed to “we need a full staff meeting” because of hurt feelings, her days were numbered.
Well, what HR really knows is how to take care of those in power. A more insidious group of people I’ve yet to meet.
And we all know what the HR people are like and how they think.
HR are the political commissars of the American corporate world.
Linda,
When he texted that he wasn't going to run, instead taking his kids to a protest--I couldn't believe it. Initially I thought, "What freaking protest?!?!" The only people showing up are white boomers...so I was confused, then the light came on.
Gross.

They’re spiteful mutants, per theories of Ed Dutton. They’re literally genetically mutated to not display normal psychological instincts.
I'm still waiting for someone to tell me why the federal government is responsible for their quality of life,
Becauze Fellinz . . .
Marxist gonna Marxist.
“I want a Justin Trudeau”.
“We have a Justin Trudeau at home.”

We sent him to Coachella with Katy Perry, no you can’t send him back.

Why are all the crazies now coming from failed third world countries?
We invited them.
How sad that this answer nails it.
AI firms, I guess. Communists in 1950s run into the problem that central planning is pretty tough, but they assured each other that in the future algorithms will be in charge of economy - and here we are
This time they will get communism right?
And they promise to not kill millions!!!
Sorry for confusing answer, I put it under wrong comment
Somebody somewhere is standing to profit bigly from this controlled demolition/managed decline.
Who?
Saikat Chakrabarti has a net worth of at least $150 million, and probably closer to $200 million, while the person running as the most radical seize-the-wealth gubernatorial candidate in California is a literal multibillionaire. It's them. They're going to profit. Hugo Chavez nationalized the Venezuelan oil industry, and now his children are the wealthiest individuals in the country.
https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-6667889/Rich-Kids-Venezuela-including-Socialist-leader-Hugo-Chavezs-daughter-flaunt-wealth.html
Thanks for this comment Chris, I was going to just say not me. 🤪
Who profited from the collapse of Rome? You don't need an external villain when your own culture is decaying before your eyes.
The CCP.
My bet's here.
Neville Roy Singham is a name we don't often use here at BRAYSOG, but maybe could, going forward.
:^>

Do liberals even exist anymore?
Because Democrats seem only to be running in elections, sexual degenerates and outright Marxists.
It is liberalism.
> He is offering a DMV with breadlines and climate sermons.
Woah woah woah there.
Are we talking, like ARTISAN bread? With sprouted no gluten grains?
Blows my mind that after Covid we still have the "why don't you want free ponies?" brigade running around.
Free! Like you mean the puppies in the windowless van? I'm so excited! Where?!
I mean, he's wearing pants. It's like NC-17ish.
But you can tell he feels overdressed...
Put the government in charge of everything. It will keep costs down. Oh yes.
Does his mother know he's running around in public dressed like that? And why do I think this gay man's surname of "Weiner" is made up?
I cannot for the life of me figure how anyone would vote for it.
All those green and purple-haired people must have brain damage from their hair dye - it's the only think I can think of that would make people so deranged as to vote for "Mr. Weiner".
Can't we just deport Chakrabarti and arrest Wiener for the kiddie porn that's just waiting to be found on his laptop? Yes we can!

I keep saying, the only certain result of throwing money at a problem is that your problem will become more expensive.
