Election Update: Same Answer

I said ten days ago that the final weeks of the election were likely to produce a bunch of psychotic anti-informative noise that should mostly be ignored, and that’s still my answer.

We learned on The View this week that Trump is going to use his presidency to deport non-white women and then forcibly reassign their white husbands and boyfriends to white partners.

We learned from Michelle Obama that Trump only has support in this election because cruel men are deliberately torturing their helpless women by voting for a mean misogynist, and the way to deal with that problem is for women to scold men a lot more. (“Our lives are worth more than their anger and disappointment.")

We learned that there was a “real air of menace” at Trump’s NAZI RALLY at Madison Square Garden, and we learned this from (among many others) a virulently anti-Trump independent journalist who said the event was menacing at precisely the moment he was standing in the pro-Trump crowd loudly describing them as dangerous but not being bothered or threatened by them in the slightest. I mean, imagine being surrounded by Nazis…who are polite to you. Chilling!

We learned that ol’ Cletus is gonna beat on his woman real hard if she dares to vote for Harris/Walz, but the womenfolk are making eye contact in the voting booth and boldly joining the secret underground resistance:

And we learned, from the always-reliable MSNBC, that women are all literally going to be killed if Donald Trump wins the election. NO, BUT LITERALLY!!!!!

I have thoughts about all of this, but no desire to inflict most of them on you. I also don’t walk behind dogs and analyze what they dump on the sidewalk. The election has become a farcical circus of mental illness and calculated amygdala punching by morally empty adult children, and I endorse this advice:

The one thought I’ll publicly indulge is that all of this scolding language and the constant depictions of normal American gender relations as a landscape of barely contained brutality is…familiar. The vernacular of well-credentialed professional-class girlboss AWFLs has entirely consumed the Democratic Party, and they can no longer speak in any other language. Democrats are very disappointed in you, America.

This would not seem to be a healthy path for an organization that lives or dies on persuasion and widespread public support.
