I was just reading the deposition. A couple pages after the exchange about CDC guidance, Ferrer says her agency "closed public comments to ensure that on our sites, people were receiving accurate information." There's a lot of arrogance in that attitude: not only is the LADPH right, it is the only source of "accurate information." It reminds you of papal infallibility.

It reminds me of Jacinda Ardern.

You get to the part where Ferrer "forgets" what her PhD is in? LOL.

An interesting follow-up here: https://twitter.com/goldenrose_79/status/1654582200095117312

Brett Morrow says "I'm over people rn. lol." in a July 2022 email, and there goes public comment on LADPH's social media posts.

And, Hamill did a short interview about the deposition yesterday. You can listen to it at https://omny.fm/shows/the-drive-home-with-jillian-barberie-and-john-ph-1/julie-hamill-2

The other night on System Update, Glenn Greenwald was pointing out how we're reversing the Enlightenment, meaning we are going back to the idea that there is one truth and it is dictated from above (the church, a monarch, the CDC, and public health "expert") and the masses are not qualified to question that truth nor to search for truth on their own.

I was just thinking about that as I read Chris's piece, but you beat me to it.

I’m waiting for them to declare the earth is flat again and anyone who disagrees is spreading misinformation.

Well, here in Seattle a public school official tried to make the case that saying 2 + 2 = 5 is *totally* legitimate.

Their arrogance is beyond tedious. It's insulting to humanity.

If Big Brother says it's misinformation, it's misinformation. Also, whenever someone frantically shouts, "Is there a doctor in the house?", they're pretty much always just looking for a PhD to help them better understand social welfare studies. In a real emergency, those are the kinds of doctors you really want to have on hand. You folks in LA are lucky to have one at your health department.

I was in the hospital a few weeks ago when a surgeon came running into the hall, covered in blood, with a look of panic on his face. He was shouting, "DOES ANYONE HERE HAVE A PHD IN SOCIAL WELFARE STUDIES!?!?!?"

Understanding articles in scholarly journals that only a handful of academics in the entire world even read is a matter of life and death sometimes! When the Army started replacing medics with graduate students in social welfare studies, they immediately reduced combat deaths by 1/2.

Expand full comment

Reduced by half is twice less, while increased by half is only 1.5 times more. Think about it (just not very hard 😁).

I'd do the math, but that would be racist.

I am reminded of that line from Alice in Wonderland with Johnny Depp where Alice says to her mother as they're on the way to the party, "Who's to say what is "proper"? What if it was agreed that "proper" was wearing a codfish on your head? Would you wear it?"

Yes, yes, they would.

I'm sure all these lies by an inept public official trying to cover up the illegal censoring of citizens in violation of our Constitutional rights will be on the front page of the LA Times tomorrow....LOL!

Just kidding!

Democracy dies in darkness! (maybe that wasn't a marketing slogan but a promise?)

Thank you for posting this, I will have to make some time to read the transcript. Julie seems to have fallen off my Twitter feed and I didn’t realize this deposition happened already.

The context to remember is that across the country, the whims of so-called experts like Barbara Ferrer controlled the lives of millions of people. There was no vote or even public debate. With a “health order”, 10 million people would be forced to obey her will. In L.A. County, only one reporter (Marla Tellez) even bothered to show up at her weekly press briefings, let alone challenge Ferrer with any questions. For reasons I do not understand her bosses-- the county Board of Supervisors-- deferred to her completely. That’s not how it’s supposed to work in America. But it did work, the small amount of dissent was silenced, and the stage is set for worse tyranny next time. I believe that’s what Julie Hamill is trying to prevent.

What's the next step here for the good guys?

More depositions. County public health communications director is next. Ultimate goal is a writ of mandate forbidding them to silence people on public media. More here:

I was 11B, but I never did anything hooah. A first sergeant asked me if I knew how to use a computer, and I said, "Who the fuck doesn't know how to use a computer, first sergeant?" All downhill from there. Then war came, and I spent a year in Kuwait. I should sue my recruiter for false advertising.

So it looks like 'speed of science' moves fast enough that this stuff can change pretty much 'on the fly' maybe based on today's weather report. Now we're talking real science, and nobody can argue with or contest that. Science is whatever the controllers say it is that day, at that time. Incredible.

This is of course about what we know it’s about - control and censorship. The public health department of LA county is toying with its citizens to what end? It’s not scientific integrity that they are upholding. It’s politics. And they are being directed by outside entities to behave this way.

Besides being evil, abusive, and illegal, the censorship and lockdown regime causes immediate health effects. People did not seek out care they urgently needed during the COVID scare. Some people died as a result. Mental health problems increased dramatically. And of course there’s the increase in child abuse, domestic abuse, drug use, kids losing time learning in school, and the economic effects which are destroying country right now.

But there’s something else. People no longer trust their doctors or the healthcare system. And while I understand why, and many of their reasons are legitimate and in concordance with my own assessment, the COVID epidemic empowered government shitheads and their corporate partners in crime to such an extent that it’s made that distrust much worse. I had a patient recently try (and fail) to conceal a large potentially lethal large fungating tumor from me. Most of the rationale had to do with the medical “industry” and this patient’s distrust thereof.

I’m not going to go into all the subsequent details. But eventually, after much wrangling, I got a tissue diagnosis confirming my suspicions. When I contacted my friendly neighborhood oncologist about the case, she told me that she’s being referred a lot of patients now who don’t trust doctors and won’t get appropriate treatment. So people can’t parse the conflicting messages that the healthcare system is sending them. They are angry and scared. And some are unable to make good decisions because they are angry and scared. It’s very sad.

People like this narcissistic sociopathic, overly self- aggrandized social worker in L. A. are part of the problem. They are hurting us collectively as a free nation by suspending our constitutional rights, and individually, as people who urgently require medical services opt out of the system.

Twenty years ago I sold my business and went to work for a government agency so I could actually spend time with my family. Ninety eight percent of the bureaucrats didn’t know their ass from a hole in the ground. The two percent that did usually left as they couldn’t stand the total incompetence. I guess we weren’t alone.
