To finish the thought with the purely speculative part, I kind of suspect, but certainly can't prove, that Markey is trying to de-Antifa the left, especially now that pro-Hamas groups are showing up at the homes of Democratic Party elected officials. It's a law that criminalizes organization leading to violence. Mao sent the Red Guards to collective farms; the Democrats are preparing to criminalize organized gathering that includes any form of training or weapons.

I think that's entirely plausible. I also suspect that Markey and his crowd are coming to the belated realization that they aren't terribly popular outside their relatively small geographic preserve, and that a full generation of their political opposition have spent 20 years fighting real-deal insurgency. Even a normie now has a better understanding of the placement and use of things like IEDs, rockets, and drones than many professionals would have in 2002. The potential dissemination of first hand knowledge of how to fight an insurgency should make them very nervous.

C’mon man…Anyone who aligns with someone who threatens half the population with F-15s and nukes, implicitly believes “Our guns good. Your guns bad.”

Apparently the Left is unaware that when the British troops returned to Boston after Lexington & Concord, one of the first decrees by Gen. Thomas Gage was for all civilian guns in Boston to be surrendered for “temporary safekeeping.” (Their descendants are still waiting for their return…) This, and other arms seizures, were a driving force behind the Revolution.

It’s sadly ironic that it’s a Massachusetts senator proposing this measure. If Sam Adams were to encounter Ed Markey, he’d very likely strike him about the head & shoulders with his walking stick for being a Tory.

I understand your disappointments, but “failing to pardon the J6 political prisoners” is one criticism I don’t share: Trump left office 14 days after the riot. Had he issued a blanket pardon and it turned out there had been truly violent felonies, he would have unleashed a real legal & political shitstorm. At the time, there was no evidence this was in fact the “Whitmer kidnapping” writ large. I strongly believe it was unfortunate that there wasn’t enough time to investigate and pardon all the nonviolent participants.

I understand the concern about a shit storm but when did he ever back away from something because of that potential? He could say the sky is blue and it would cause a shit storm. I know Markey is leading a manufactured moral crisis, and obviously, you know that. Unfortunately, those on the left and many of the low-information Normies will take this as the truth.

The AWFLs I see with profiles on dating apps still have "NO TRUMPERS" prominently displayed (yes, in all caps), but they have recently added "NO REPUBLICANS AND NO CONSERVATIVES." Shouting at potential dating partners is their idea of a good time. But, the large majority of dating profiles I see make these statements. It is disconcerting that such a significant majority of women are not only belligerently liberal but incapable of even associating with someone conservative.

All of the rhetoric on the left is ramping up to levels beyond what we saw in 2016. The polarization has only gotten worse.

Perhaps it’s the AWFLs scintillating personalities and radiance of human warmth?

Expand full comment

In my experience and observations, there are a few things preventing AWFLs (and other perpetual dating app users) from ever matching. First, men out number women on dating apps 2-1 or 3-1, depending on the statistics you believe. The volume of men that are "simping" for women online must be staggering. There is always another guy popping up in their inbox. Second the way many women write their profiles conveys a level of disgust for men in general. Any guy with anything going on would be crazy to engage a woman that shows so much hatred and misunderstanding of men. Third, it seems most of these women are not interested in the guys that might be a good match. Instead, they seem focused on the top 10%. Again, depending on the reporting you believe, the estimates show that the majority of women are chasing a very small number of "high value" men, and in turn, sharing those men unwittingly. I believe the guys many of these women chase are in such high demand that they don't need to commit to any one woman. Then, the theory that all men are jerks becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. Over time, the AWFL becomes increasingly bitter, until her anger spills out into her dating profile filled with rows of ALL CAP DEMANDS. Of course, especially for a reasonably attractive woman, they have been told their entire life how beautiful, smart, and amazing they are. They have been told to never settle. Many of them have advanced degrees and have had a lot of success in their careers. They are just not wired to ever look critically at their own actions. Women surveyed consistently say they want a man to earn twice what they earn. Unfortunately for them, most men making mid six figure incomes are able to date younger women that are not as jaded. Add it all up, and the chance of success is extremely low.

Go to www.igotstandardsbro.com and mess around with the "Female Delusion Calculator." Using the parameters "makes 100k, at least 6' tall, not married or obese, 35-60 years old, any race" you'll find the percentage of men that meet the criteria is .75%. This is statistical, government data. If your idea of the right man comprises less than 1% of the population, it makes sense you would be bitter and disappointed.

This would be a fascinating podcast topic. I was all in for decriminalization and legalization of most drugs just recently.

I think an argument could be made that we legalized drug use without corresponding “recovery” infrastructure in our communities. We knew drug use would increase, which would mean the number of addicts would also increase.

Instead of helping our drug users, we are allowing them to destroy their lives through homelessness and fentanyl use.

The premise of the article goes well beyond drugs, and is on point.

Good luck with that, Senator Malarkey. This will never become a law.

This proposed law is of course a redundancy insofar as it's already illegal to destroy property, assault, batter, injure or kill people deliberately, disturb the peace, discharge a firearm within the city limits, brandish a firearm, etc.

This is a huge power grab and would be used to persecute anybody in opposition to whoever is in power. I mean, they are rounding up people for being in Washington, DC on January 6, and not even going to the Capitol. They hardly need new laws. They selectively stretch and contort existing statues into prosecutions that have never before been attempted.

Every totalitarian government seeks to disarm its populace ASAP. It's Dictator 101. If things keep heading downhill, nobody is going to care if self defense in groups is against the law. Imagine 50 groups of 200 people each decide to train for mutual defense because they feel the government isn't doing its job to protect the country? They already have their hardware. Who's going to arrest them? Good luck with that. This would very quickly get out of hand at a national level. Yeah , I know, there is no way that the citizenry could ever win against a formidable military with state of the art weaponry. If you say so.

A better solution might be for the government to do its job. Protect the borders. Defend the states and the citizens against invasions ,criminals, riots and looting, enemies foreign and domestic, instead of giving it all the Commie-Democrat seal of approval. Then virtually nobody would want to think about being in a militia and surviving Thunderdome. Crazy idea, right? Very right wing extremist and racist.
