This is an excellent thought exercise and a lucid discussion of a great big orange fact hiding in front of all of us, perhaps the biggest and greatest orange fact ever.

To see what is right in front of us is the hardest thing, said somebody smarter than I.

Very nicely done. One of your best posts.

I believe it, having experienced it up close. Look at the PPP and COVID emergency funding program SNAFUS at the US Small Business Administration - hundreds of billions in fraudulently obtained payments. They don’t even know how much was stolen.

"hundreds of billions in fraudulently obtained payments. They don’t even know how much was stolen."

So then the question becomes, what are we even trying to save? We want a republic but sadly a republic takes many making good choices. Based on the example you provided it seems like the majority of "citizens" are thieves..........

No, they’ve been indoctrinated since birth in public schools to make stupid choices that defy logic.

You're just repeating the same thing everyone says, its someone elses fault! And even if most people do not know right from wrong, as you assert, the same system you want to save is the same system that "indoctrinated" people from birth............

I’m 100% certain that whatever government we would come up with after a revolution will not even vaguely compare in quality to the post-CW Constitution.

And any mechanism we’d put it place to expunge cultural Marxism would inevitably be interpreted by future domestic opponents to permit OUR thinking to be expunged.

Please note that even at the height the 1950’s Red Scare, the government only outlawed Communist membership, not Communist THINKING, which is our current problem.

It’s a big beautiful fact. It’s so beautiful and big that you can’t see around it. They all know It’s the shiniest, and the most expensive. They said you can’t imagine that a fact could be this big, but it is.

I’m reinforcing is the fact is that Trump got to where he is because of the dysfunctional system we have, to Chris’ point. Trump is the Orange fact.

The classic contemporary graft example: The LA to SF High Speed Rail project.

Some years ago (2014? 2015?) I worked on it briefly (I do electric utility engineering) as my employer was a subcontractor. At the required orientation the rep for the primary contractor kept saying things like "if it gets built," and seem generally unenthusiastic and unmotivated.

Then I sat there for two weeks in Fresno doing absolutely nothing. At the end of my two weeks I tried to explain to my boss that I had done nothing billable. He all but directly told me to fake my timesheet.

No one intends to build the rail line. The contractors are openly, blatantly sucking up money with no intention of delivering. And to think of the private property that is being eminent domain'd for nothing, as well.

Last year Reason reported that the French high speed rail consultant pulled out, stating that their projects in North Africa were less corrupt.

And all this is right out in the open. Everyone on the project knows it's a joke. And they just got more money from the Biden administration. Unbelievable.

And while that project ferments, the Inflation Reduction Act appropriated billions more to another California rail boondoggle. The proposed Los Angeles to Las Vegas high speed rail project will start completely across a high mountain range from LA, and requires a 1-2 hour drive from the LA metro are to just reach its initial terminal in the desert. The thinking is that people will make that long drive just to board a train to complete the trip to Vegas, rather than just keep driving 3 more hours and then have to rent a car to get around upon arrival.

(And this goes double for all of the many functionaries in the ruling Dem Party.)

We are well on our way here to becoming a new Brazil, a place ruled by a few connected politicians and their wealthy backers, with a small strata of wealthy aristocrats protected by armed guards and tall fences, with a miniscule middle class and a vast horde of poor people in nicer favelas, supported by their feudal lords.

Well written and succinct. As you point out, a well functioning society would not countenance Trump, nor all of the other bizarre creatures who populate our polity. The weird thing, he's better than all the rest, not even close. Things are coming to a head, with our entire republic collapsing around us. Bismarck pointed out that God watches out for drunks and the United States. We might be able to stumble along, somehow, and recuperate and rebuild. But I'm very skeptical, given the shear number and gargantuan sizes of the problems we face and the fact that the elites who govern and control all institutions to speak of, are all gangsters, morons, communists, or some combination of the three.

I think we are Europe in the spring of 1914.

Hmmmm..... I look around and see that politicians do not live by the same rules as us lowly tax-payers, watch as Biden’s family goes on without punishment, stand astonished as a dim witted press secretary mocks the public with her obvious lies (ever notice the rate of her blinking? It is faster than the concord was!), and squirm as the CNN reporter is “all in” on the administration’s narrative, and I don’t believe the money is “un-accounted for” - they know EXACTLY where it is.

Amazing how every politician, including AOC, goes in with meager monies and becomes more and more wealthy as they stay. All, that is except, Trump and a few others who still see politics as a “public service” not a get rich quick scheme.

We the tax payers are financially supporting everything this administration has done, is doing, and will do - most of which is anti-Constitutional, anti- American, and illegal.

Why? Why is and how did a lying, ridiculous plagiarizing, dirty old man even BECOME president? How is it that a drug addicted, thieving, human trafficking, morally inept “civilian citizen” is now spending most of his time in and at the White House with the president of the USA, and rubbing elbows with the heads of other countries?

The DoD spending 100 million and getting nothing for it is surprisingly not the worst outcome possible. A thing that happens a lot with leadership in the military and senior government employee leadership is the change of command. New leader, wants to make his mark, change things so he can take credit for effecting change (regardless of whether it’s necessary or even makes sense). What will end up happening is leadership gets sold on a an expensive service or contract for some shiny object and pays millions for it. Only problem is the last leader spent millions for a different service that does the opposite. So now you have the DoD paying two different companies gigantic amounts of money to undo each other’s work. Nevermind the administrative waste associated with mediating all of that. They’d be better off just burning our money in pits.

I think Trump's ascendence came because the Universe insists on balance—the yin and the yang, the good and the bad, the sane and the insane. Corporate greed, political corruption, questionable elections, academic insanity and irresponsible media require a 350 pound gorilla to jump on the opposite end of the seesaw to level things out or in a perfect world land with such thrust that the other five entities fly off into oblivion. So, if we want proof of how bad things have become, notice how much stronger and invincible Trump and the MAGA movement now are in order to level the playing field. It's not balancing left and right—it's balancing bad and good. Want Trump to go away? Shrink the evil influence of the Left.

Brings to mind a rushed & botched Afghanistan withdrawal that wound up arming the very "terr-ists" we were supposedly "fighting"...for TWENTY FRIGGIN' YEARS! Another massive federal accounting "feat" we've seen over & over. Fund both sides to fight bigly. Keep them fighting. Let's not forget 0bomba continued droning & assassinating in hundreds of places all over the world we were not "at war" with. It kept relations in the Middle East unstable and very ripe for the conflicts going on now, hyped up by the current Resident after a 4-year hiatus by the 2016 unexpected defeat of the Satan's sister.

Dirty, bribed politicians (on BOTH hyped-up, untrustworthy "sides") and the f-n' dishonest media--making zillion$, by running interference and profit schemes for the military industrial complex and their corrupted 3- and 4-letter federally funded agencies enabling the fraud.

Profit schemes for the MIC also brings to mind the fact the government's DOD and NIH coincidentally hold all the patents relating to both the "disease" (SARS-CoV-2) and the RECOMMENDED mRNA "vaccine" technology. The CDC recommending the "most vulnerable" take the shots (proven to kill), wear the masks (proven do not work)--and their captured state, regional and county health departments & school systems FORCED to parrot the propaganda, and issue MANDATES that "the government" cannot. Not because they "believed" it necessarily, but because through FEDERAL GRANTS and PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS, these organizations had "agreed" to follow the recommended protocols in order to take trillions of dollars during the lockdowns (particularly ESSER funds)--before seeing the fine print. Yet when they get the fine print--several months AFTER they got 75% of the printed up money up front--it says they must "meet certain criteria and follow all federal protocols" OR they must pay back the funds they've already received (probably spent or committed) and forfeit the final 25% payment. The criminal syndicate controls the weapons and all messaging surrounding it. What could go wrong? Criminal genius, decades in planning.

The "tax us to death" while "maximizing profits while slowly killing us" scheme absolutely would not be possible without the criminal creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913--handing over control of our entire monetary system to PRIVATE BANKERS to manipulate, control and continually profit from. They fixed the system, took over education and dumbed down the public to not notice it. Addicted us to smart phone technology and social media, then used those same public-private partnerships to silence people pointing out what's actually happening.

Those loyalty rewards we earn for idolizing "convenience" so much that it trumps our own critical thinking ability and cedes personal sovereignty to big government just keep piling up...and the insanely wealthy get far richer.

(Truly, "the love of money is the root of ALL evil." We live it daily, but few so realize it.)
