Important legislative hearing coming very soon.
I wrote about AB 665 last month, warning parents that its passage would mean your children can vanish into mental health care facilities — “residential shelter services” — without your consent:
In a story today, the Post Millennial describes AB 665 as a state-sanctioned kidnapping bill, and I agree with that characterization. The bill doesn’t mention particular mental health crises that would lead to residential mental health treatment for children, but the story digs into the subtext: It’s at least in part about helping children, from the ages of 12 and up, to deal with the crisis caused by finding that their bodies don’t match their gender. This kind of mental health crisis is especially devastating when parents don’t support a child who needs to transition, if you can’t see where this is going. (As I’ve also written, a nearly identical bill in Washington is advancing.)
In a remarkable example of moral preening by the morally insane, the San Francisco Chronicle proudly declares that AB 665 is a shining example of the progressive California legislature standing up to the increasingly rabid and hateful demand for so-called “parents’ rights” from the knuckledragging haters in red states like Florida. The newspaper quotes Scott Wiener extensively, because of his moral wisdom. I’m not entirely sure when the Chronicle turned into the Tuol Sleng newsletter.
The bill will be heard before a legislative committee for the first time on March 28, when the Assembly Judiciary Committee will discuss it. If you live in California and you haven’t already contacted your state legislators to oppose this bill, do it as soon as possible. The floor of the Assembly is basically a scene from Marat-Sade, so committee is the best place for this thing to die.
The California legislature has been a problem for a long time, but the snowball is suddenly rolling a lot faster. This idiot represents San Jose in the Assembly, so he gets to vote on AB 665:
Like many of you, I’ve always dreamed of living in a “social housing flat” while my child departs on the government shuttle for transition therapy at an inpatient gender-affirmation center. With a UBI check, no less, grilling cricketburgers and dreaming of the day when the state allows me to learn my child’s new name. “A future we can make happen.”
Chris, If you did not have your name attached to this, I would have assumed that it was a piece from the Babylon Bee. Especially the superb advice from Representative Lee. OMG.
The trans thing is their favorite dystopian wedge to cleave the social fabric at the moment. They think of us as lab rats in their big Skinner box. Sickening.
