My inbox has just passed 1,000 messages, and I'm trying to mostly not be on the computer today, so please be patient if you don't get a response to your comment or email message. I'll work on catching up over the weekend. Thanks for writing -- I appreciate your messages, and I'll dig into them soon.

May perpetual light shine upon well-loved Hal.

2 Timothy 4:7 - I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. And Hal most assuredly did.

(Our prayer zoom prayer group starts in a minute - we dedicate this hour to Hal and your entire family.)

Chris, I don't know if this is appropriate or not, but a few months after my beloved husband died, he "visited" me to share his joy; poured it into me, as it were. I know it may sound crazy, but that's when I KNEW that there is life after death, instead of just believing it. I hope you find this comforting somehow. You are all in my prayers.

Chris, you have been -- and will continue to be -- a hero who shines a very comforting light within dark times; we are all in your debt. I send to you my sincerest sympathy at this time of great loss for you and for your family. Please know how many of us will be keeping you close to our hearts in the coming days....

I am standing upon the seashore.

A ship, at my side, spreads her white sails to the moving breeze

and starts for the blue ocean.

She is an object of beauty and strength.

I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck of white cloud

just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all.

She is just as large in mast, hull and spar as she was when she left my side.

And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.

And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"

there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices

ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

And that is dying...a horizon and the limit of our sight.

Sorry man. Same thing happened to us last year.

"Time" is all I can say; the times you shared and accepting that the "gone-ness" will never disappear...just dissipate over time.

Blessings.
