I'm Hiding in the Bushes Outside Your Bedroom Because You're Just Obviously So Crazy and the Problem is You

This is what the New Republic website looked like around noon today:
Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump Trump. Trump falls flat on his face! Trump gives a train-wreck interview! Trump gives a catastrophic interview! Trump gives a disastrously bad interview!
You’re maybe spotting a theme, here.
The news is that TRUMP, and and and TRUMP’S EMOTIONAL STATE. Trump is HUMILIATED, Trump is writhing in SHAME, Trump is RAGING, Trump got SCHOOLED, Trump got CALLED OUT, Trump is SPIRALING DOWN, Trump is having a MELTDOWN, Trump is throwing a BIZARRE TANTRUM, Trump is TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP, see, LOOK HOW UNHINGED HE IS TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP TRUMP. oH mY GoD yOU gUyS WhY iS hE So UNbALanCEd!?!?!?!?
You begin to get the sense that people who consume a lot of left-facing news spend a great deal of time thinking about feelings of rage and shame, for…some odd reason. Screenshot:
This isn’t politics. It isn’t a debate over competing policy choices. Donald Trump has lived through decades of a “relentlessly humiliating life,” having to survive the shame of being a billionaire who becomes the President of the United States like a LOSER. No one responds to right-facing politics, by the way — they only taunt and mock:
Christopher Rufo has described the cultural formation at the heart of all this shamespeak as a “Cluster B society,” and yes. But the cultural gravity of this mass psychosis pulls all discussion out of alignment. We all end up in the trap. At the risk of engaging in crazy talk, there are maybe other things happening in the world that might matter as much as TRUMP’S PERSONALITY. And we keep being dragged away from all of those other discussions by the lunatics who write the “news,” even when it’s partisan news.
If you watched the exchange between JD Vance and Martha Raddatz over the weekend, by the way, what you were watching was Vance getting SCHOOLED!
Maybe you remember it a little differently than that, yes?
I drove past this sign in my own deep blue suburban town today:
Take a moment to think about the psychological characteristics of the person who hangs this image on the front of their home, and do note the word on the bottom-right pane of glass on the front door. Found on the Internet, and I don’t know who to credit:
We’re living through a psychological crisis that has dressed itself up in the costume of “politics.” It needs to end.
Still thinking about the people in my town who HUMILIATED Trump by covering their home with the image of his face, using the center of their lives to accord him the greatest possible significance and prominence. Remarkable.
The New Republic just fired its CEO. Owner Win McCormack hosted a Kamala fundraiser and had $34 million stolen from him by his limo company. A professional money losing sucker. May TNR circle the toilet bowl into oblivion.
