Untermenschenization metastasizes.
In a culture that elevates symbol-signaling above all other forms of human behavior, somebody has to play the bad symbol so we have something to smash on social media. See, we’re GOOD, we’re virtuous, we SMASHED it!
What, exactly, did you smash? You know, the thing. Today’s thing. We smashed it!
The unvaccinated have been great for that. The President of the United States infamously announced his feelings for the bad-symbol last year:
…while doctors signaled that they would no longer treat the dirty underclass: “It appears that there is a lack of selflessness and concern for the burden on the health and well-being of our society from our encounters.”
But now there’s no more virus, ‘cause Joe Biden made it have to stop.
Bad Donald Trump made there to be a virus, but Good Joe Biden made there to not be a virus. It’s science.
Fortunately, we have a new virus to hate, and it’s people who happen to be Russian. In Italy this week, a literature professor was notified (and then un-notified) that his university had decided he wouldn’t be allowed to teach a scheduled course on Fyodor Dostoevsky — that stupid Russian bastard! We don’t allow…Russia thing around here, something something whatever!
Quite predictably, after the politicization of medical care over Covid-19 vaccination, a doctor in Germany has sent an email message letting people know that she’ll no longer provide medical treatment to Russians. Similarly, a coalition of cancer doctors quickly announced that they would no longer participate in research and conferences with filthy Russians.
A reminder, and do especially note numbers 8 and 10:
It’ll be something else in a couple months. We cycle through demons, smashing them in public. If you don’t smash the Daily Designated Demon (DDD), you’re probably of the untermenschen yourself, DEMON! You’re probably an unvaccinated Russian, the lowest of all known human forms!
Smash it or get smashed, loser. A tweet will suffice.
It's entirely possible to believe that Russia is a psychotic bully state and its attack on Ukraine was unjustified, AND believe that bandwagoning hate of all things and humans Russian is utterly stupid. But to do that you have to be able to think clearly and read past the headlines. Most people seem to be incapable of doing that.
The new chant is "I stand with Ukraine." Forget Black Lives Matter, Flatten the Curve, Misinformation, and all the rest.
