The Culture War Is 100% Misdirection

The premise being debated isn’t the premise being debated. The thing that you risk agreeing to isn’t the thing being proposed. Public debate is a Trojan horse, and a Trojan horse, and a Trojan horse, and a Trojan horse, and a Trojan horse. That’s the culture war: fake things on offer as misdirection.

California is having an argument about not being mean to LGBT children:

The conversation is about forced outing, about an LGBT theme: schools torturing gay children by telling their parents. It’s pure bullshit, an attempt to force a premise by hiding it. Once you accept that, for the sake of kindness, the poor gay and trans children shouldn’t be viciously “outed” to their families, you’ve swallowed a bigger premise whole without having ever debated it: schools should operate in a zone of secrecy that excludes parents.

See this with total clarity, and never forget it:

The premise sold to you on the deliberately misleading framing of LGBT children doesn’t just apply to LGBT children; it applies to children, to all of them. Children should hide what they learn from their families. Campuses are private. We should draw a veil over education, and mothers and fathers shouldn’t be allowed to pierce that veil with their evil prying eyes. Sex is a topic for school officials and children to discuss in deeply candid and explicit ways, and their private sex talk should be hidden from the people who merely give birth to children and raise them in their homes. School is intimate; family is distant. Parents are secondary in the lives of children. Campus officials have the highest authority over children, and the greatest intimacy with them. Children belong to them first. Government is good. Families are bad.

But, I mean, you have no choice but to accept that parents should be excluded from the inner lives of their own children, right? You have to agree that government is more important than family — otherwise you’re a mean bigot who tortures gay children. Why do you hate the LGBT community? Have long have you been a mean person who seethes with hatred?

The “debate” is a lie, entirely and purposefully. Once schools can keep secrets from parents to protect LGBT children, then schools keep secrets from parents. The unlimited principle is established behind a little sliver of what appeared to be special pleading.

Children: government property, or part of a family? There is no other discussion going on, here. The LGBT framing is a lie to keep you from seeing the actual proposal and the actual premises that are in play. And the only proper response to the premise that your children belong primarily to the government is profound loathing and firm refusal.

Woke culture warriors live on lies. See them clearly. The fake debate over “LGBT children” is a screen for an agenda involving all children and all of childhood. Shove that screen aside with great force.
