The rural areas have become somewhat more red, partly because rural people tend to be conservative, but partly because the blue-collar workers in Iowa's strong factory economy have been left further and further behind by the Democrats.
There used to be a joke that if someone was driving a Mercedes with a Johnson County (Iowa City) plate, they were probably a liberal; but if it had a Linn County (Cedar Rapids) plate, they were probably a conservative.
One thing we can know for sure whenever someone claims an area is "purple" or "blue", is that they have not yet realized that all of the elections and all of the polling is completely fake. Our brilliant educators in this state also voted on through their union a wicked health plan which is to be 100% + interest paid back through social security claw backs upon their demise. Nice way to kill off their children’s money they’ve been working for to provide for themselves into to have it taken through an invoice to them by name from the Social Security Administration. A woman I dated received a bill from SSA for $189,000 for the care her mother received from the time she retired u til her death that was paid her by her health care plan through the Texas teachers union. I’ve asked several friends I went to school with about this great medical they get and they didn’t k ow that was the result. The lady I dated as of last year was still fighting it through the courts and had already gotten into the mid 5 figures in attorney fees. That’s the level of stupidity that is not an anomaly it’s endemic to that profession. It’s been getting exponentially worse every year since the dept of educations inception.
