I see all the people saying the result is pure cheating and ballot harvesting, and I agree that there was probably lots of both, but I live in a place where a third of the children walking to school in the morning are still wearing masks. Same story with whole families in the supermarkets. Stupidity and cowardice are real.

Very true. I think we are living through the golden age of psy-ops. It started in 2016 where a self-aggrandizing NY carnival barker became Orange Hitler. And tens of millions of people believed that absurdity. For a supposedly vile racist, it was a bit strange that no eyewitnesses could be found claiming that The Apprentice star ever uttered the Enword.

Next came the Flu That Changed The World. Fear was stoked and human rights were shredded to combat what, for most, was 5 days of runny noses and some aches. And, again, millions were scared out of their minds and surrendered their dignity and rights. It doesn't look like either are returning any time soon.

Lesson: Lie, lie, lie. Then repeat. Somewhere, in the flames of hell, Goebbels is cracking a smile.

Many older people are solid, but the mass of a.) boomer-progressivists (they call themselves liberals, but any reality of that is over) and b.) boomer moderates-so-called seem to be cap-stoning a thirty-year refusal (80s-00s) to turn to real moderation, which involved admitting our society has to act against ways the Revolution (sexual/cultural) harmed us in many areas, with a final plunge into Overt Denialism. It's the final ugly karmic reversal of the seemingly beautiful vibe of '66/'67.

Psychology > Social Psychology > Social Cognition > Availability Heuristic

Availability Heuristic

Availability Heuristic Definition

The availability heuristic describes a mental strategy in which people judge probability, frequency, or extremity based on the ease with which and the amount of information that can be brought to mind.

--------

Importance of Salience

SalienceHumans have a limited ability to process information; they cannot attend to every aspect of a situation. Salience determines which information will most likely grab one’s attention and have the greatest influence on one’s perception of the world. Unfortunately, the most salient information is not always the most accurate or important. Salient media coverage might cause people to overestimate the frequency of relatively unusual dangers (e.g., airplane crashes) and underestimate much more common threats (e.g., colon cancer) that do not receive salient coverage. People are not usually consciously aware of the extent to which salience affects them.

It's all fake. With the disaster in Afghanistan, recession, inflation, and an unpopular president, the Democrats managed to buck all historical trends and hold their own. OK, sure. Because the right to extirpate human life in the womb overrode everything else? And it was so important to people that it only came out in exit polling?!? Ain't buying it.

At the time of the Floyd riots, I remarked that the Democrats were acting as if they'd never have to face another legitimate election again. I stand by that statement.

If you had spent any time trying to reach millennials you’d understand this article. Being that you don’t suggests to me that you’re out of touch. If there’s one thing that’s true about the emerging culture that is lead by the millennials (who showed up to vote in droves and were the most significant factor in these elections not going in the red wave direction) is that facts don’t matter. Millennials buy an narrative not a set of facts. And that narrative is the one shaped for them by the left for the past 30 years through education, entertainment, and the media. You can claim fraud all you want but it just makes you look more ignorant and out of touch.

I don't know exactly what's going on in people's heads, but I have a feeling a few things contributed.

People are nuanced. So those polls . . . you would have to know not only what they answered but why they answered it that way. It's not enough to ask "Is the country going in the right direction?" You need to ask them why and who they blame (that second one). Polls are utterly useless. I don't even know why we do them anymore, or more to the point, why we give them credence.

People are stupid, panicky creatures. We ran out of toilet paper in *Montana* for God's sake. Montana--the land of farming machines that can rip off arms and cattle that can kick off your head, where you're taking your life in your hands on the roads every winter. And we ran out of effing toilet paper because people panicked over a respiratory virus. If anything should have alerted you to the stupidity of people, it was COVID. People are still getting boosters. They're still wearing masks. They would still gladly sacrifice the development of six year olds to the illusion of saving eighty-six year olds. Literally every misanthropic take on society is *completely valid.*

There is no substantive difference between the parties. None. Between candidates, perhaps, but not between parties. Yes, I know someone will point out issues like transing children and abortion, but those are . . . distractions. When it comes to the things that affect everyday life, like the ability to make a decent living and leave your children with something of a nest egg . . . *shrugs* I'm nearly fifty. I can't remember a single time either party improved that situation measurably, except maybe under Donald Trump, and he still signed into law a tax bill that, when the higher standard deduction sunsets for individuals, will smash the working and middle class on the rocks while letting corporations just walk free. So even among those who are capable of more than panicked, self-interested choices, what have they really been left to choose?

Of course, the fact that we now not only live in bubbles but revel in our ignorance and treat political parties like separate religions dedicated to gods who are mortal enemies . . . that doesn't help either.

And I don't know how this ends other than to point out that some species make it and some species don't, and some systems make it and some systems don't.

I read that democrats are no longer trying to win votes - hence the no debates, little campaigning/hiding out, not answering questions (Hobbs, fetterman, Biden..) Their goal is getting ballots. Makes perfect sense if you look at their voting wish list: unlimited mail in voting; unattended drop boxes, no ID requirement; voting at any location & the intended but not advertised bonus of ballot harvesting. We have all these things currently in Illinois & the Dems are so confident even though pritzker is a shit show they call the race when only 15% of the vote is in. if you look at the states with the worst election guards in place you will see MI, PA, AZ, WI, NV heading in our direction. There will be no such thing as a swing state when the Dem Governors solidify their ballot getting schemes.

They all saw the "DeSantis causes hurricanes to kill Floridians" forecast on a national news program and literally cannot believe me when I tell them that although power outages are possible (because power outages happen often in my neighborhood for a variety of reasons), I am in literally zero danger. I've screenshotted my forecast and sent it to them. Maybe one of them has realized that CNN and Fox are showing low-probability, worst-case scenarios rather than what's likely. I get my forecast online; my Northern friends could visit the same reputable website; instead, they watch weather fearporn on CNN and text me with exclamation points. Ron De Santis won the governorship 4 years ago against a drug addict by the skin of his teeth, and through the power of effective governance turned his entire state red. We ran against a massive media, tech and money machine and still accomplished all this. Do you really think the bastards who made life hell the past few years, and foresaw their loss of power didn’t prepare a media message to recast their loss as really ours???? Do you think they were going to “give” us the media cycle, or do you think they’d recast it as our loss, and trickle out results over days to diffuse the effect? So we won, but the day after we’re the losers? Psy Ops would be so proud. No celebrations for team Red.

Yeah we hit the beach at Normandy, but we lost men so we’re all just a bunch of losers. Where is General Patton when you need him!!?! No one on that beach thought the war would be won on that day.
