When I did a quick read-through of the NOPE bill, I realized it could very well outlaw the huge censorship industrial complex entirely.

Oh no! Don't throw me in that briar patch! Anything but that!

Chris Bray's avatar

THE WHOLE THING. Instantly! "Democrats launch savage attack on Democratic Party, news at 11:00."

Occam's avatar

Right?!!

Watch me while I piledrive myself in the nuts because.....well, I don't exactly know why.

Name Invalid's avatar

To get back at trump and those trumpers. that'll teach 'em

Emily Terrell's avatar

These are the folks taking Tylenol to prove Trump is wrong while completely disregarding the health of their own unborn children. I’m all for not interfering with an enemy while they’re making an own goal (please, please pass the bill), but I’m starting to worry we’ve fallen down the evolutionary ladder to below simian. It’s more than just opposable thumbs folks.

Refenestrated's avatar

You’re going to need something to control the pain after you squash your cubes. Do you happen to be a pregnant trans woman? If so, why not get on camera and down a handful of Tylenol to show Trump that he’s not the boss of you?

Emily Terrell's avatar

There’s no such thing as a pregnant trans woman. There are mentally ill pregnant women pretending to be men in a grotesque farce of motherhood. And there are sane pregnant mothers. There are no pregnant men, no matter what they’ve done to themselves cosmetically or how they dress. That is a biological impossibility.

"Don't throw me in that briar patch!"

Precisely what I came to say.

Silent scorn's avatar

The briar patch! Isn’t that racist? 😂😂😂sorry I couldn’t help myself.

SimulationCommander's avatar

I identified as a rabbit while I wrote it, so I think it's just cultural appropriation.

Silent scorn's avatar

Oh of course! My bad as they say 😊

Klink's avatar

The desperately unfortunate thing is how reflexively and vigorously the majority of republicans will oppose this. And that opposition will probably be lead by orange man himself. There's no way to overestimate his and the party's ability to violently tear a devastating defeat from the jaws of an almost certain victory.

SimulationCommander's avatar

It's why I call them the Washington Generals of the uniparty.

Klink's avatar

LOL! I have referred to them exactly the same way for decades on end now.

FuriousIT's avatar

"Hey libs, Trump hates guns, free speech, and being limited to only two genders. Whatcha gonna do about it?"

Cindi Good's avatar

SHHHHHHHH, don't tell them!

Manny's avatar

While this is a wonderful idea, elected Republicans probably aren't smart enough to take the W.

Occam's avatar

That's a prescient point.

They will, in reaction to the dems reflexively taking the opposite view, will take an opposite view to the dems, losing their advantage and hamstringing themselves.

Alan's avatar

Stephen Miller just needs to invite Mike Johnson to the WH, show him the Jim Marshall video and say, “Notice, Mike, that no KC Chief tried to tackle Marshall.”

Hugh Wayne Black's avatar

Not just Mike Johnson. John Thune was responsible for the Senate not taking recess, thereby FURTHER delaying the appointments for Trump’s federal judges.

With RINOS like that we don’t need Democrats.

Elmer Fudd shoots himself in the foot again!

Alan's avatar

Don’t get me started on Mitch McConnell’s lackey, John Thune.

AndyinBC's avatar

As their record, sadly, would indicate!

Tim Tracy's avatar

Unfortunately you are probably right

Jester Naybor's avatar

There is another opportunity looming, as well. (Please pardon the caps, as this was copied from a “chalkboard” graphic.)

SO YOU STUBBORN DEMS WILL LET THE GOVERNMENT SHUT DOWN?

> UNLIKE YOU, THIS ADMINISTRATION WILL NOT INFLICT PAIN ON THE PEOPLE BY SHUTTING DOWN PARKS OR STOPPING BENEFIT CHECKS. VERY FEW PEOPLE WILL BE SIGNIFICANTLY AFFECTED.

> INSTEAD, THIS ADMINISTRATION WILL USE THIS AS JUSTIFICATION TO DOWNSIZE THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH EVEN MORE.

> THEN TURN AROUND AND ASK THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ...

"WERE YOU AFFECTED BY THE SHUTDOWN? NO?

THEN WHY DO WE NEED SUCH A BIG GOVERNMENT AND ITS COST?"

(PLEASE, THROW MR. TRUMP INTO THIS BRIAR PATCH!)

Flippin’ Jersey's avatar

Given the fecklessness and idiocy of the GOP, this bill goes nowhere. Republicans snatch defeat from the jaws of victory constantly.

AndyinBC's avatar

Not sure that 'Like' is the appropriate term, but yeah, that's what they've been doing for decades.

Hazel's avatar

Maybe the big cheese can give them the heads up (on how to vote)

Arne's avatar

Crow's also sponsoring H.J. Res.126: "A joint resolution to direct the removal of United States Armed Forces from hostilities that have not been authorized by Congress."

Chris Bray's avatar

Oh no! How devastating that would be! LOL

Richard Parker's avatar

Can we backdate that resolution 75 years?

Steenroid's avatar

I knew today’s pot was stronger than when I was a kid but gee Crow being from CO has been smoking way too much. They will kick him out of the party if they were smart enough to read and then comprehend what they read.

Connect The Dots's avatar

Maybe they'll be too high

Hugh Wayne Black's avatar

Not gonna happen as long as AOC, Omar, and Jazzy are still there.

Space Hamster Boo's avatar

Not to rain on the parade but bills like this have a knack for disappearing completely the minute the news cycle moves on. Congresscritters like talking much more than legislating.

publius_x's avatar

Exactly. The only thing written is the corny acronym title.

publius_x's avatar

Representatives Establishing Truth And Regulation Directives act.

PapayaSF's avatar

So maybe the Kimmel/FCC “fumble” by Trump was actually a Sun Tzu trick to get Democrats to condemn and outlaw Biden-era censorship….

Chris Bray's avatar

That would truly be 4th Dimension chess, and I would send the man a well-done steak slathered in ketchup.

PapayaSF's avatar

It goes back to what Scott Adams was (AFAIK) first to talk about in 2015-2017. Trump has masterful persuasion and negotiation skills. Part of that is *appearing* reactive and not thinking things through, but his real estate career involved years-long juggling of often competing interests with a big payoff at the end. He tricks enemies into underestimating him. Amazingly, they are still doing it and falling for the same tricks.

Skenny's avatar

The horror!!! That's really a thing???

I knew there would eventually be something on which he should be directly opposed..... But yuck.... Ketchup, well done. Damn.

Richard Parker's avatar

I don't believe that Trump plays One Dimensional Chess.

Hugh Wayne Black's avatar

He doesn’t have to. He just lets the Democrats destroy themselves and sits back watching and laughing.

Name Invalid's avatar

I am disappointed that Trump does not use his "they will do the opposite I tell them" power more often.

Even way back in 2016 in the womans march (Yes that very grass roots organized event) I thought Trump should tweet:

ChicksI It'll be rainy out there so be prepared!

Wear your tight t shirts and text me the pics!

The Prez

That would have gotten another million of them to wander in the rain wearing pussy hats...

Hazel's avatar

My thoughts exactly

Occam's avatar

Oh fuck, my head hurts, Chris. We're moving from clown world to crazy town.

Now, the left wants to:

1. PROTECT free speech from the government (after covid and conservative suppressions all over the place for years now),

AND

2. Shut down the federal government because they can't agree on a budget

Did everyone switch sides while we weren't looking?

#2 is great because they demanded things like health care for illegals in there. They apparently WANT the gop to not pass the budget.

I need more popcorn.

Jrod's avatar

Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right...

Name Invalid's avatar

I like that song, but both tend to be left of me

Susan G's avatar

The Dems also want USAID back. To hell with 'em!

Hugh Wayne Black's avatar

“We’re gonna protect free speech by restricting free speech.” Got it 🤜🤛

La Lydia's avatar

I have been predicting a popcorn shortage ever since they started muttering about the shut down. Again.

A Whip of Cords's avatar

Never interfere with the enemy when they are in the process of destroying themselves.

ScottyG's avatar

Narrator: “the Republicans interfered.”

QuestionEverything's avatar

Their insane TDS loop is bringing them back to the Constitution. Tap those ruby red slippers together, kids. What you were looking for was always in your own back yard!

Chris Bray's avatar

"Wait, I have an amazing new idea!"

Jester Naybor's avatar

May it come to pass, as described by Cloud William* ...

"That which is ours is ours again. It will never be taken from us again."

------------------------------------------------

* from "The Omega Glory", an episode of the original series of Star Trek.

Rich Helppie The Common Bridge's avatar

The smart move would be to caption the bill the Tyrannical Restriction Underlying MAGA Persecution (TRUMP) Act. Then the president would sign it for sure.

Kimberly Kinser's avatar

It’s almost as if the left is cursed in that way that happens when we allow hatred to become the biggest part of our personality. Hatred cripples, and bitterness blinds.

And the irony is so rich and so thick we could use it for building materials. Oh hey! Let’s do that and build us a rebuilt constitutional republic out of the left’s blind insanity…brick by brick by brick.

alwayscurious's avatar

This would cancel California's hate speech new about to be signed bill.

Jrod's avatar

Please Mr. fox, don't toss me in the br'er patch!

And just look at the crazy in Scary Poppin's eyes. They are indeed the window to the soul.

Valoree Dowell's avatar

There is no soul there. That is the problem.

Rikard's avatar

Öhhh.... my head hurts.

Is Crow counting on solid Democrat rule forever and ever hereafter or what?

Otherwise, he is setting his own gang up for what's started to happen here:

Communists, feminists and Greens who's been transferring money to moslem terror-groups abroad have started to come under legal scrutiny. And wouldn't you know it, a law the Red-Green alliance prepped and put forth last time they were in office, a law that allows police and prosecutors to confiscate assets, property and belongings that

>the suspect can't prove come from legal proceeds<

is now being tentatively applied to Reds, Greens and other assorted scum.

Not so much oopsy-daisy, as oopsy-Daisy Cutter.

Yes please. Everyone just shut up and vote
